That's a wrap! Huge thank you to Steve Reed and the entire Labour Yimby team for such an unforgettable Labour Conference. They brought energy, fun, and the largest events programme we've ever run. Labour is united behind the need to Build Baby Build! A look back across the week ⬇️

As we approached LGBT+ Labour’s 50th anniversary, I’m not sure we expected to have such a venue to host a celebration! Thanks to the PM for popping up to cut the cake but also to our speakers for highlighting the progress Labour Government’s have made for LGBT+ rights, since we were founded in 1975.

The Sunday Times is right—Milton Keynes is one of the most exciting and innovative places in the Oxford-Cambridge Arc. A city built for growth, with the infrastructure, ambition, and economic strength to lead the UK’s next phase of development. www.thetimes.com/business-mon...

New rail link, big tech sector — time to move to Milton Keynes?

The city straddling the Oxford-Cambridge corridor believes its forward-looking ethos will draw skilled people from both university cities

The Children’s Wellbeing & Schools Bill is the biggest reform to child protection in a decade. The Tories might talk about fixing education & safeguarding, but they had 14 years to do it. It's time for them to stop chasing the populist bandwagon and focus on making change for the better.

A photo of two smiling people standing in front of a black curtain and holding a sign. The person on the left is Kevin McKenna MP, and on the right is Bridget Phillipson MP. The sign reads "I'm voting for FREE BREAKFAST CLUBS in every primary school".

A new NHS Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) opened on Sheppey just before Christmas. This means the PM’s announcement today about streamlining access to CDCs for patients, will have a big positive impact on getting waiting times down round here. Very good to see. www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

Keir Starmer: I will not let our NHS die — this is my prescription

This new year I am resolved to reverse the decline and make the health service fit for the future

The government’s white paper on devolution today is a welcome step. It removes yet more bottlenecks in the planning system. As housing is approved at the local level, fixing local government is key to improving the supply of housing.

Over 150,000 children in England will spend this Christmas without a proper home This is the reality of the current housing system was broken by the Conservatives A system which has left over one million families stuck on housing waiting lists and locked an entire generation out of homeownership

The one enduring memory I have of John Prescott was volunteering on his Police and Crime Commissioner campaign at Uni nearly 15 years ago. Bunch of us were in Hull town centre and Prescott was speaking on a microphone without many people listening.

The fight back in Tower Hamlets continues with the opposition winning a series of votes to take over a series of committees - including SDC off the former chair who is so corrupt he wrote to the former owner of a strip club asking for £100k to keep their licence

Great to be at full council in Tower Hamlets - all the Aspire Cllr’s being passed speeches and questions from Lutfars office is hilarious, he can’t trust his own group - no wonder he doesn’t give them any power

NEW: President Biden given permission to Ukraine to use long range US missiles inside Russia for the first time. Major change in US policy, two months before Trump takes office. Biden has authorised it in response to North Korean troops being deployed to the frontlines.

Cowardly and dishonest position from Momentum. Any starting point to negotiation has to be an end to occupation. Russia won't accept that and has said so. Because it's trying to occupy Ukrainian land and dominate its people. For Russia, this is a colonial war.

Wreckless and irresponsible. The only humane approach to the devastating conflict in Eastern Europe is to tirelessly promote a negotiated resolution to the conflict. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
