sometimes on my laptop I get the intuition that there's a beautiful interesting website I should be visiting but I either can't think of it or it is my mission to find it

U would think Kant would show up more in those "X didn't do anything of note until they were [Insert Age here]" like he's sort of the GOAT of not doing shit until later in life

can't write it because I'd have to go see The Odyssey and I won't have access to a theater for a week but I'm interested in how the project of an epic was once to code an entire culture's values and beliefs into one narrative that could be passed down and re: America I can't imagine us doing that rn

based on available data, you can just sort of invite Slavoj Žižek into a Zoom and ask him to talk shit about his own books, and he will do so

Some brilliant thoughts here: "Resentment is the mind seeking revenge for the experience of jealousy. “You think you’re better than me.” It’s the inevitable outcome of classed society. Any time it presents itself, it’s an occasion to consider how our particular civic project is chugging along."

I wrote about "performative reading," resentment, and how tech CEOs managed to make us so incurious, to their great benefit johnpaulbrammer.substack.com/p/on-perform...

I love reading shit from antiquity! I disagree with Aristotle on the nature of friendship. yes he was much smarter than I am, but look who's dead. and who isn't.

It is kind of wild (foolish? heroic?) that "we" continue to post photos of ourselves on the internet at all, considering the possibility, however remote, of our image being used as a cruel meme that periodically flares up. it happened to this guy I know and every time I see it I get scared

I have been working on a painting of a pigeon now for four months. my friend tried to complain about his high-powered lawyer job the other day and I was like totally that sounds a lot like this pigeon painting. of mine.

Important to arrive at conclusions. if you get there before others you can set up your beach towel and bluetooth speaker. you'll notice though that all the good ones are crowded. be like homosexuals and find rocky ones that no one else likes. and where you can be nude
