people argue that recognizing too many genocides dilutes the definition or makes it so that we don't pay attention to *real* genocides. I think there's a parallel with arguments about how recognizing how common rape is will make us ignore "real" rapes, which is a staple of rape denialism.
UK trans policies, Trump's immigration policies, Iran war, Russia's war, even refusal of aid to D states, all arguably qualify as genocide under the UN definition.
Just so everyone knows, this is a tried-and-true mainstream media tactic. For progressives/leftist candidates, every election is a “crucial test” and any loss would serve as proof to the media that the latest left-side moment is at its end. Any win, though, just means it’s time to find a new test.

I have a lot of experience with bullies, on the receiving end as a kid and as an ASB Officer and this is classic bullying behaviour. Threats, then humiliation, then taunting you that you need to be humiliated even more. ("Say sorry. Now get on your knees. Now cry.") It's monstrous behaviour.

The danger is not that AI can fake an image. We already knew that. It’s that Google put the forgery tool inside one of the places people go to verify what is real. The opportunities for propaganda are mind-boggling, and that is only one of the obvious dangers.
