October 6th - Microphone Okay, I'm totally cheating by posting this stupid comic I drew last year but never posted outside of Discord. It has a microphone in it so it partially counts. It's called "Not a Date" because it's not a date. I'll draw something new for the word when I get home. Ha ha

I almost never post political stuff, no one is looking at *my* feeds for that content, and anyone that actually knows me already knows my stance on... all the things. But when censorship comes knocking, sometimes you have to share what they don't want you to see. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLDE...

Tiny, colorful baby scallops — a total cuteness overload in one dish! You might think, “This person posts the same creature every year!” But honestly, seeing the same life return year after year is something truly wonderful𓂃🫧
Early Cartoon Network was hugely inspired by the UPA animator Bobe Cannon. Artists like Genndy Tartakovsky loved his style of movement, studied it and put it in their work. We're looking into Cannon's methods and how they shaped these shows: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/the-animat...
She was Hayao Miyazaki's "right-hand" collaborator from the '70s onward. Her name was Michiyo Yasuda -- the best color designer in animation. Yasuda's eye for color gave Ghibli's work a totally different look. We explore her methods: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/the-artist...

Gary Larson cartoon incident
_____________
In 1987 Gary Larson published a Far Side cartoon of two chimpanzees grooming, in which one discovers a blonde hair and says, "Conducting a little more 'research' with that Jane Goodall tramp?"[127] The Jane Goodall Institute called the cartoon an "atrocity" in a letter drafted by its lawyers to Larson and his syndicate. Goodall, who was in Africa at the time, later found the cartoon amusing.[128]
She went on to name it her favourite depiction of herself in pop culture.[129] Larson offered profits from sales of a shirt featuring the cartoon to the Jane Goodall Institute.[130]
Goodall wrote the preface to The Far Side Gallery 5, detailing her version of the controversy.[131] She praised Larson's creative ideas, which often compare and contrast the behaviour of humans and animals.
In 1988 Larson visited Goodall's research facility in Tanzania.[128] While there, he was attacked by a chimpanzee named Frodo.[127][132]](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:qdtwslusias4dnfmqydvudsq/bafkreiab4xelozcgki2mm2n3wwq5vdhbvve7v76enl6wbonavz6gjc2p7u)

So, a quick story. I have been at @comicpalooza.bsky.social, been swamped with long lines almost the entire weekend so far, and there was this very nice gentleman named Jin (not sure of the spelling). He came the first day and said he was bringing books the next day to get signed. 1/

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up. I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.
A movie that takes place where you're from Cloak & Dagger (1984) has a scene filmed on the San Antonio riverwalk. My dad was even an extra in it!
