The State Department said ​it takes "full responsibility" for "hastily" altering and then presenting a map of Africa at a global AIDS conference that mislabeled every single country it highlighted. An analysis by Reuters found a watermark in the map image that suggests it was made with OpenAI.

I appreciate that some places have negative consequences for AI-slop-submissions (desk reject, ban from submitting for X time) but what do we do about reviews that were clearly LLM-written? Ban those people from being reviewers? Oh no! Do we threaten them with some delicious ice-cream too?

my neighborhood 7-11 closed a couple years ago and tried to reopen but couldn’t get the permit approved because there’s a preschool next door and 7-11s sell alcohol (the previous permit was grandfathered in). i saw a fence going up around the lot recently and looked up what was moving in: a gun shop
