Why wouldn't local media give info about how many raises OPOA has had in the last decade vs civilian unions? My rough math: SEIU and IFPTE have received a total 19% worth of increases, literally having to go on strike to get most of it after years w/out. OPOA: a staggering 38.5%.

A lot of the moral panic around trans kids boils down to parents being displeased with who their children ended up becoming. To which I say, if all you want is another life to control, don't have kids, and see a therapist.

BREAKING: The U.S. Department of Justice announced on Friday that it reached an “agreement” with Mount Sinai Health System in which it will “cease providing” gender-affirming medical care to minors and dedicate $2 million to providing care to those “suffering harmful consequences” of such care.

At a certain point I have to ask myself if I got all this pedigree and spent decades doing research and building things to then spend the rest of my life attempting to come up with good arguments as to why the Cookie Monster isn't real.

i think folks just have no idea the amount of shit you can actually do when you put whatever money you can find directly into community instead of director salaries and unionbusting people are conditioned to accept whatever they get when they should be expecting everything they deserve

the fucker who wrote this was my boss at trans law center when i got fired for unionizing. their take is correct-adjacent but they aren't naming the real issue, which is less how much money our orgs get and more how we use it. i know they know this, but obvs they won't say it bc they benefit from it

good riddance, they don't do shit to help us or support us. how many nonprofits have publicly supported the NYT boycott, which is a very bare minimum and not particularly radical form of protest? how many nonprofit executives have shown they care more about their career than the queers?

Trans Leader Sounds Alarm About “Near Complete Exodus” of Philanthropy From Movement

Shelby Chestnut, the executive director of the Transgender Law Center, says that the “dollars barely trickle in.”

The world’s richest man is a transphobic white supremacist federal contractor with a breeding compound and he materially supports one of the two US parties with as much money as he can and their opposition really ought to focus on stopping him for continuing to do that.

so are we gonna get a bunch of political analysis thumbsucker pieces about the cautionary tale of a promising youngish politico who torpedoed his career by latching on to the biological gender extremists who are attempting to drag the Democratic Party into hugely unpopular political waters or nah

Seen a lot of people responding to this with “I’m just going to pirate the show,” and I want to gently remind everyone that the central idea in this piece is that there’s no way to engage with the Potter franchise in any capacity that doesn’t benefit Rowling and her bigotry

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

Not only this, but cis hand-wringing about “Can’t HP mean something to meeee? My childhood memories are more important than trans people’s rights and sense of safety” grossed me the hell out. It’s a shit franchise from a shit person. HP stuff is a hate symbol and it tells me exactly who you are.

There are truly so many people who aren't trans women who nonetheless feel absolute brazen confidence in spouting their rancid gutter-tier opinions about trans women. This is the product of a society that claps like circus seals every time someone has the original thought "tranny bad".

Congratulations to cis women for getting their own version of "The Transsexual Empire". Long overdue, glad it finally happened

Ok what the actual fuck, @wired.com!!!! Calling perimenopause a “buzzword” is wild, misogynist work that minimizes a decades long feminist movement to raise awareness about women’s health This article could have been good but instead is … very very bad

What City is responding to is a years-long toxic campaign waged by OPOA to destroy the career of any elected that seeks oversight. OPD wants an uregulated firehose of spending, while its actual operational strength has now clearly been proven to have zero effect on crime.

Oakland reopened the last 5-year OPOA contract, executed in 2019 in 2022 to extend it to 7 years & add "retention" bonuses. Since 2022, OPD's staffing has fallen by nearly 100 officers. Oakland is caving to a media fueled pressure campaign, it has nothing to do with "retention"
