🧵 Attention, Fellow SFF Artists and Authors -- here is my response to Must Read Magazines, after they presented an Asimov's art contract expecting me to waive all Moral Rights and Copyright to my art. And, I would strongly advise the following to my fellow pros…. 1/

John Picacio’s response to Must Read Magazine’s request for his waiver of all Moral Rights and Copyright of his commissioned art for an ASIMOV’S assignment. Short version — Picacio says a resounding NOPE.

NEW VIDEO ALERT! Today on Bar Cart Bookshelf we're talking about FIND ME WHERE IT ENDS by Cassandra Khaw. A moving horror novella about the weight of suicidal ideation as Antigone confronts the arrival of her death. Powerful, intense, bracing. Our drink is the Black Dog, which I hope be a comfort.

An advance review copy of FIND ME WHERE IT ENDS by Cassandra Khaw alongside a dark red drink in a stemmed glass. Book and drink sit before blooming purple mums.

Someone asked why Emily Bell attacks her authors like this. All I can say from what happened to me is she decides that anyone who disagrees with her is her enemy. And once you disagree with her on one thing, she lies and manufactures an entire web of things you didn't do. 8/

What the fuck, Joyce. I don’t even read romance novels but this kind of thinking pisses me the fuck off. It further pushes that mentality that some books as “lesser” which is bullshit! All books count!

Joyce Carol Oates
This is why Al-generated romance novels make perfect sense. Formulaic fiction doesn't need to be written by hand, so to speak; what difference does it make if a machine "writes" it? There are machine-made clothes & there are custom-made clothes. They appeal to different consumers.
