Hey guys, Perez Hilton performed self-harm and may have attempted a suicide on TikTok and screenshots are flying around, so if you are sensitive, go put "Perez Hilton" in your mutes right now.

We made it to the halfway mark on our summer subscription drive, which means, yes, we're gonna do a merch store featuring designs by Ace Ty and the COYOTE crew! (And yes, paid subscribers will get some nice discounts, too.) Anything in particular you want to see?

COYOTE merch store sneak peek

Left image: zoomed-in feature of a black cap with blue accents and a cartoony coyote emblem. Middle image: zoomed-in feature of a beige tote with coyote cartoon faces on it. Right image: zoomed-in feature of a pink hooded sweatshirt with red text that says "coyo coyo." Maybe it says "coyote" in full! We'll find out.

someone just asked me about my fave spots for charcoal grilled food in the East Bay and for the sake of spreading the word... my recs are Kaokao Grill in Berkeley, Wah Jee Wah in Hayward, and Keeku da Dhaba in Fremont ;)

damn I never thought Brothers Karamazov would make me weep (and while reading on the treadmill lol) but here I am, sweaty and also crying???

Being anti-AI isn't enough. You should be pro-art, pro-artist, pro-writer, pro-worker. Don't expend all your energy tearing people down. Spend it lifting people up instead. Make their voices so loud, their art so visible, it drowns out the slop.

It’s true! Our 25% off summer sale is on! Tell your Bay Area friends who love culture writing but hate billionaires/Big Tech we’ve got ‘em. At 50 new members we’ll finally launch our merch shop, so if you’ve ever wondered what kind of bumper sticker @soleilho.com would design, you’re in for a treat.

The team at @coyotemedia.org is running a summer sale, with the goal of adding 100 paid members. Your money goes directly to worker-owners who are publishing fun, interesting, and unique work. With more $ they'll be able to do investigations, events, and more! www.coyotemedia.org/summer-2026-...

an interesting side effect of all this talk over criticism: folks asserting that there’s a proper way to be a critic, or decorum to follow. I don’t think there is! There are as many ways to be a critic (or a writer) as there are of being a person.

In San Francisco, indie theater and the leather community are both struggling. ‘Satyricon’ asks: Combined, can they keep each other afloat? And what better way to find out than with a story about kinky queer people contemplating the decline of civilization? www.coyotemedia.org/gay-situatio...

‘Satyricon’ brings sex, excess, and the decline of an empire to a historic San Francisco leather bar.

*whispers* you know we can do this cultural debate about art thing all the time, right? Websites and news organizations used to have culture critics on staff whose entire job was writing about books, movies, and TV. People read them and then discussed them. We have the technology to do this again.

One of the fun parts of running the @coyotemedia.org calendar is that I get to write teaser text like "We’ve also got alien costumes, several forms of magic, bratwurst throwing, Yiddish puppetry, and something described as “intelligent, leaky, erotic, and alive.” The Bay Area is NOT dead, y'all.
