My pregnant wife is under bombardment, carrying our baby girl, who hasn’t seen the light of day yet.💔 I’m not asking for luxury—only help to protect my wife and welcome Raseel safely. The birth is near, and my fear grows daily. Please donate, even a little, or share. 🙏❤️ chuffed.org/project/1462...
Finished the Asceptic questline in Nivalis Nights and had to take a break. I think this game is genuinely special and deeply upsetting.
I've been getting a bit tired of my drawing workflow. I feel like my style relies heavily on lineart and makes certain lighting effects harder to pull off. So I decided to experiment and rely less on lineart... I really want to know what you think. I'm still deciding...
further, I think if you were to assist in the abuse of one of those victims, people would want to know that about you and might have some questions about your reporting it would be best if you were to speak with the very, very understandably furious abuse victims you've helped harm about this.
personally, I think if you're friends with a violent abuser, you KNOW he's a violent abuser, and you still join his podcast to build his profile, and you never comment on when he violently abuses another one of your friends... you should disclose that to people who come to you with stories of abuse
mfers will would rather argue that your computer program has feelings than accept that the same is true of a Black person, and try to construct a worldview where turning off a computer program is murder while a lynching isn't.
honestly the thing that I find most galling about all this is the massive overlap between people trying to apply human rights models to computer programs and those arguing that some categories of humans -whether by race, category, or caste- don't have them.
Over a year ago I met an Anthropic employee at a conference and at one point she mentioned that one of the things she was working on was whether or not it was cruel to ever turn off an AI model. I thought she was joking. She was not.
reducing Black and Brown children and families to dots on a screen of zero consequence while also saying that some other dots on the screen, the ones that are powering the murders of the aforementioned, might have souls and feelings meaning the real crime against humanity would mean not using them
"What if the computer has feelings" ask the people who write the code used to blow up Palestinian families and Iranian school children, to strip millions of people of their health care, to help the modern-day Gestapo put our immigrant neighbors in concentration camps. Yeah, what if.
Gretchen on Flanagan has me screaming with joy
I reviewed Mike Flanagan's CARRIE, a limp and lifeless adaptation which sands away everything ugly and difficult about the original novel and replaces it with... not much, actually. www.patreon.com/scumbelievab...

They do not gain access to use the characters and create further art in those universes I've created through the agreement they reached with the commissioning publisher. That is not how any of this works. This actually reads like nonsense. Writers actually know about their contracts? We read them!
Thanks for posting this Analog. With all due respect this does not make any sense to me. I've had covers created for my books by their publishers. They hired artists. The Text copy right of Countess and Skin Thief belong to me. The artist for those covers doesn't sell that cover art elsewhere.

Engaging With Art Every Day: Vol 1
I decided to engage with a piece of art every day. Here's what came of it.

Yeah, cant imagine why young folks are less likely to identify as a marginalized demographic in sociopolitical climate that is trying to murder marginalized demographics.
Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than a few years ago, according to a new analysis. “It really does look like a free fall,” Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology, said. “But what’s causing it is unclear.”
I've been working on short stories this week & have decided to re-organise my collections... but my debut collection is already available! If you're curious about my stories, this is a great place to sample my writing & you can read the first two stories here: read.amazon.com.au/sample/B0DRG...
Ok, settle the fuck down Mike. You're not Spielberg. Hell you're barely Stuart Gordon
Mike Flanagan wants to make a JAWS movie. Flanagan explains during a Reddit AMA session this week, "Honestly, I wish to hell I could make a JAWS movie." "Another example where no one will EVER get close to the original, but there is a ton of room for improvement on the sequels."

Public executions, including lynchings and mob violence, are always focused on larger messages about control and power, and what we are experiencing, both with this firing squad and daylight killings by ICE, is the normalization of fascistic state power owning the right to life and death.
Fascism is grounded in creating in and out groups in which rights and protections and spoils and even life itself is the property of the former while the latter can be degraded and abused and murdered without consequence at any moment. This execution is a milestone along the road to that.
It isn’t a coincidence that Hegseth has greenlit the murder of an “Islamist” while the US loses a war with Iran and the Right continues to fear a leftist/Muslim takeover. The execution is a cult ritual in which the subject is transformed from an individual to a larger concept.
Televising the execution of Nidal Hasan is about more than voyeuristic violence Authoritarianism requires rituals of death that seek to transform secular oppression into religious orthodoxy while communicating the need to murderously purge “the other.” jaredyatessexton.substack.com/p/descent-in...
