I added a KOSync server to BookHive, which allows synchronizing reading progress across your e-readers. It's based on my existing: kosync.nickthesick.com But, I've added OPDS support which means BookHive can store your ebooks and serve them to your e-readers too.

Portainer is a self-hosted docker manager that I use to deploy all of my self hosted services. I’ve just hooked up its MCP server and it is awesome to have completed the loop on an agent managing all of my self hosted services. It can diagnose issues end to end and redeploy.

This took quite a lot to get a hang of. I had to re-architect how bookhive runs to have multiple processes now. At least they can all share the same SQLite DB, if this doesn't hold up, then I will probably have to move to Postgres and maybe even multiple servers

I've been working on E2EE for my Y.js sync server & think I have a solution that I really like now!

It was essentially encrypt(update) -> server -> decrypt(update), using the server only for storage. This worked, but required different storage & awkward compaction of updates
The amount of times I’ve been bit by this makes me remove sharp in every project I work on. Maybe I don’t have to do this anymore?

Goodreads has locked down their website APIs further with a WAF. I’m looking into ways to solve it to keep book data for @bookhive.buzz working. I’m hopeful that I’ll figure something out, but for now book data will be partial if someone has not already fetched that book before.

I wanted to try out using docs.imgproxy.net which is a self-hosted tool to resize images, and I was not disappointed by the savings I could get out of encoding things as webp and resizing them for BookHive!
Released this, very happy to see such a reduction in deps for BlockNote. Markdown parsing & serializing is annoying

We already have so many markdown tests in BlockNote but I went ahead and added a bunch more to help guide the LLM to make good choices. github.com/TypeCellOS/B...
I've been wanting to share this for a while, even though the project is on hold for a bit while we figure out some things on our side. I worked on making a Notion Databases like UI, to go with BlockNote our Notion-like rich text editor. I'm super happy with how it came out: (website not final)
