Remember every Republican President in the 21st Century has handed a Democratic Majority what would have been understood to be a back-breaking economic crisis. Literally, this week, the Houthis attacked another key strait and we reached 98% oil refinement capacity.

Dems need to get their heads around what a big clusterfuck Iran will be by January. We could be in full-blown energy crisis, 1979-style, with an urgent need to put grown-ups in charge of the war machine (if it is not targeted at Dems before then).

One time, and I promise this is true, Bush gave a flip remark about violence while playing golf and it became a defining moment for his legacy. This president shrugging about a war he started while overseas at a golf tournament that is lining his own pockets won’t be remembered in two weeks.

Q: What do you make of the Gulf nations meeting with Iran? TRUMP: I don't care. That's up to them. We'll ultimately get out. Unless we decide to stay and keep the oil! Like Venezuela

My only take is that I remember speculation on what future attacks could look like (random shots into crowds, sabotaging infrastructure, driving a car into a mall etc) and all those things have been used by right-wing domestic terrorists

the memory of 9/11 has been used to sell beer, toys, titty restaurants, and an entire series of horrific moral and geopolitical errors, from a worldwide network of secret torture sites to a monumentally stupid war executed by monumentally stupid people

wingnut centrists have been accusing el-sayed of "debasing the memory of 9/11" because he compared 9/11 to covid and called for a commensurate response. set aside the rank islamophobia of the accusation: it would be impossible to debase the memory of 9/11 more than it already has been.

After September

The grief lingers, and the mistakes cannot be overturned, and the dead do not return from their graves.

This is my vote for the most classic 9/11 tweet

the fact that they were all screaming about how disrespectful it was to the victims to let the Muslim mayor attend, and then the Muslim mayor was the only one who fucking respected the victims I don't really believe in hell but I KNOW it is not hot enough

Zohran Mamdani "was the only senior elected official who stayed at the 9/11 memorial ceremony at the WTC until the end…Vance was the first to leave the VIP area, and other elected officials began 'schmoozing.'" Per Steve Kastenbaum:

Mayor Mamdani was the only senior elected official who stayed at the 9/11 memorial ceremony at the WTC until the end. It started at 8:40 AM, and concluded close to 12:30 PM. Most of the other current electeds left at various times. Former Mayors Bloomberg & Giuliani stayed.

Mamdani stayed until the end of the memorial ceremony at which point he was seen talking with 9/11 victims' family members. All of the other senior elected officials left the 9/11 Memorial before the reading of the names concluded.

The source tells me that V.P. Vance was the first to leave the VIP area, and other elected officials began "schmoozing." At some point, Mayor Giuliani's people started "bringing people over to talk with him." CORRECTION:I used photos in a previous similar post that were from 2025

Lots of interesting information in this thread on antibiotics, antiinflammatories, and metabolic and mood effects. Among these tidbits is that one of the earliest antidepressants was developed as an antibiotic to treat tuberculosis! Bodies are weird, but science is awesome.

Do I have any mutuals with expertise in antibiotics and their effects? I have an odd question: I have been on amoxicillin 5 times in the past 10 years and each time I have felt mentally and emotionally fantastic. Calm, happy, motivated. Un-haunted. It starts within about 6 hours of the initial dose.

When “accepting the largest foreign emolument in American history while monetizing the presidency through your son-in-law & children ” is the Christian Laettner of unpunished crimes in a presidency, you know that our constitutional order has completely failed.

My favorite thing about this poll is that ‘Accepting a luxury jet from Qatar while the Trump Organization pursues business opportunities in the Gulf’ came in last. Deeper bench than the ‘92 Dream Team.

Bar chart from Data for Progress titled 'Trump's Handling of the Epstein Files Is Seen as the Most Concerning Corruption-Related Action.' An August 28–31, 2026 survey of 1,167 U.S. likely voters asked which of Trump's second-term actions are most concerning, selecting up to two. Results: declining to fully release the Epstein files, 22%; directing federal law-enforcement investigations against political opponents, 17%; using the presidency to enrich his properties like Mar-a-Lago, 17%; growing his family's cryptocurrency business including Trump meme coins, 15%; family and associates moving between government roles and private ventures, 15%; pardoning allies including Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, 12%; easing regulations in industries where his family has financial interests, 12%; selling early access to his social media posts for up to $100,000 a month, 11%; accepting millions in White House ballroom donations from companies with business before the government, 11%; accepting a luxury jet from Qatar while the Trump Organization pursues Gulf business, 9%, last among the listed actions. 'None of these are concerning to me' drew 18% and 'Don't know'

Quick clinical note: If you have client who suddenly feels brilliant, overconfident and seems hypomanic without history of significant mood instability OR a client who suddenly out of the blue seems to feel confused, incapable, insecure & everything they do is wrong - ASSESS THEIR AI USE.

I'm a white Arab American. Most ppl would never know that's my background by looking at me. The day after 9/11, family friends, who did not know, where at the house and openly talking about how all Arabs and Muslims in the US should be rounded up into camps. I was 12 years old. We were never united.

This is the "Charlie Brown had hoes" of the center now. You didn't experience this. It didn't happen. This wasn't real.

I think it's more comforting for some people to think of OBL as some evil genius or tragic victim of imperialism rather than a bog standard delusional ideologically extremist billionaire failson who thought he could accellerationism his way to a theocratic utopia

I began working at the World Trade Center complex in, I believe, April of 1999. I’d just graduated from NYU and while I was applying for accounting jobs, I temped at the then-New York Board of Trade (now ICE Futures US), a commodities exchange, reviewing report spreadsheets.
