i got super wasted on my homemade edibles last night and i’m still kind of high and so tired. i said i would go to a party tonight and also i should be mowing the lawn right now, it’s gorgeous out. so i guess i’ll take a nap
i don’t like it when i make mistakes. but even though i feel much wiser than i did when i was young/younger (20s-30s), when i look back at my decisions i don’t really think they were worse. more chaotic and often reckless but also fun and adventurous, even (sometimes) when i felt crappy (depressed).
58F is a much more pleasant indoor temperature in august than it is in January and I don’t really understand that
my ankles are so fucking itchy. my mosquito bite-free summer has gone up in flames since i had to stand in the yard in flip flops waiting for the utility guys cuz i smelled gas. and it was so wet and humid this week. ITCHY
here’s my old friend Mike on his pig farm near here with a wee pig. yes i know they’re called piglets but i picture piglets as even tinier and pinker. i think it’s ok to just call this a wee pig
~45 years ago i was so crazy about this poem (by wallace stevens) and i’m not sure i’ve read it since. “to feel that the light is a rabbit-light” 😭 i didn’t understand a thing but i understood this
remembering my incarcerated penpal who disappeared ~6 months into the pandemic. i worried it had to do with mail disruption--he kept writing to me and not hearing back. i checked with an agency and he was definitely gone. they weren’t allowed to say if he had died but things weren’t sounding good
idk how we’re supposed to tell the difference between lake america and the gulf of america. people are gonna get confused and go to the wrong one, hurricane warning from new orleans are gonna freak people out in kingston
it’s not as funny but the accurate change would be “Lake New York"
today in useful advice that is not based on any personal experience: try to resist the temptation to toss a tomato in the car
“being introverted" (or not, or partly) gets stated like it was a natural, immutable trait, but it’s obviously historically produced. and bowling alone doesn’t help
I thought Trump was going to end crime and the American carnage
i’ve been listening to the neil young archives and i really like them. i always had trouble understanding his lyrics--i find his voice a bit weak, and he loves a lot of guitar noise. but in the live things he’s so clear and he tells stories & is charming neilyoungarchives.com/drawer?posit...

i had no appetite yesterday and i really didn’t eat all day, till like midnight when i more or less forced myself to snack. i figured i’d be really hungry this morning, but i wasn’t and i forgot to eat. i got hungry when i was out and about, got home & kind of ate in last hour. most just v v tired
as an old i gotta say this is very true. i hadn’t thought about it but it puzzles me, since they were a constant 60s-90s. i assume people are still seeing them, maybe even getting abducted? but it doesn’t feel like a live thing in the culture. crowded out by other conspiracies i think
Aliens fell off
He was crawling off the pillow and fell asleep 1/2 way through! 🤭🥰♥️ -Magnus
Didn't know this until today but Dolly Parton had a transsexual man named Jason Pirro work as her Hollywood chauffeur in the 1980s, per an interview he gave to The Sun in 1990. "Dolly has been good to me...Dolly knows all about me."
genuinely if i had to put up with even a tenth of the horse shit people historically threw at dolly i would never have been as kind and generous a person as she was. she really makes you understand how brave and strong it is to be kind.
critical to remember that for a lot of dolly's adult life she was a punchline - the reverence is recent. nevertheless she persisted etc
