Working towards a world where healthcare, wider public services, & society are truly there for people affected by ME. Registered Charity in England and Wales: 1218590 www.thereforme.uk

We've had lots of new followers, so it's probably a good time to introduce ourselves again & let you know how you can support us. ThereForME was founded back in 2024 by Karen Hargrave and Emma Gore-Lloyd, whose partners both live with very severe ME.

The response to @bethdobbin.bsky.social's campaign for ME research funding has been remarkable. Thank you for all your kind comments & words of support for Beth & her family. 🩵 It demonstrates the desperate need for healthcare & wider public services to be truly there for people affected by ME.

Thank you so much @thereforme.bsky.social ànd @actionforme.bsky.social for producing this useful briefing so quickly - it’s very helpful to have this analysis. And Beth - thank you for promoting all this activity - we can see that you haven’t lost your sprinter’s instincts!

We're happy to share that we now have an MP briefing live (joint with @actionforme.bsky.social) which you can send to your MP to give them all the info they need to support Beth Dobbin in her campaign for increased ME research funding. The briefing and our template are linked below👇

1/2 Huge thanks to Olympic athlete Beth Dobbin for using her limited energy to share her story & raise awareness of the severely debilitating effects of ME & the lack of clear NHS pathways. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athlet... We hear of situations like this all too often.

Beth Dobbin: British Olympic sprinter in bed for 22 hours a day after ME diagnosis

Beth Dobbin ran for Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Five years on, she is largely bedbound after being diagnosed with ME, a devastating illness for which there is no cure.

George Monbiot was nominated for last year’s ThereForME Advent Calendar for using journalism to shine a light on failings faced by pwME. Today, he writes that too often people with ME are abandoned, while discredited treatments continue to be prescribed. He’s right.

Here's today's column on the astonishing, ongoing mistreatment of people with #ME/CFS. Please spread it far and wide: the only thing which can break the media's wall of indifference is seeing an article about the issue go viral. Thank you. 1/2 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

In our work with #ThereForME, we come across many people with ME and Long Covid who face challenges accessing social care support. Today's guest post shares stories from three authors from across the UK. Thank you to Cass, Marianne and our anonymous contributor for sharing your experiences 💙
