I rarely make public criticisms of new papers, but Sancarlo & Paul's latest "paper" is nothing more than a brazen act of taxonomic vandalism. And the organization(?) that publishes the "journal' has a 'family photos' section on their website.

Amazing reconstruction of a famous eurypterid site! Here's one member of that fauna, Acutiramus macrophthalamus (UMMP IP 86635).
420 Million years before the reign of Mamdani, two Acutiramus wake up from their daylight slumber as thousands are Eurypterus begin to invade the shallow, warm waters of New York. This is the Fiddlers Green or Bertie Formation, a Silurian lagerstätte known for its eurypterids🧵

I've been drained from paleo. So I will be taking an extended break from it for awhile. When I am getting stressed from having to deal with people being annoying, arrogant/ignorant, or mansplaining my own field to me while I am trying to take a break from my stressful personal life, its too much.
Spent the last couple of days in the @ntlmuseumsscot.bsky.social , so is only right to share some Old Red Sandstone fishes for #fossilfriday

New #paleoart of the Welsh theropod Dracoraptor hanigani, restored with appropriately neotheropodan features. UK marine sediments have a glut of small Jurassic theropods, with Dracoraptor one of the best-known. #sciart Like this image? You can own a copy! www.markwitton.co.uk/product-page...

Quite a few people have asked me to put the Cabrières lagerstätte from the Ordovician of France on our wheel for a while. I refused so far because, well, I already did it as a commission ;) Cabrières is a fascinating biota, a fuge amount of macro algae might hint at...
Result from the Burgess Shale #paleostream! This piece turned into one of the busiest yet, and yet we only scratch the surface here! Burgess Shale is a fossil bearing deposit high up in the Canadian Rockies and is sometimes called the "most important fossil locality of all time"
Awhile ago I started editing the Lagerstätte article to make the list more comprehensive, better cited, nicer, etc. I ended up splitting the list out because of size (still need to improve the main article) so now I can say that I created & wrote the majority of the longest paleo wiki article. help
