I think the telling thing about Trump's false 9/11 story is that being as far away as he really was would have been sufficiently traumatizing for a normal human being without pretending to more. the city smelled like death for months. little scraps of paper and detritus blew up avenues for weeks.

"...New Yorkers were instructed to return to the ground zero area before it was safe to do so." "People got sick because the leaders they trusted lied and told them they were safe to breathe in toxic air,” Mr. Mamdani added. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/07/n...

After 9/11, Documents Suggest, New Yorkers Were Misled About Air Quality

The Mamdani administration released more than 170,000 pages of documents related to the air quality around the World Trade Center site in the months after the Sept. 11 attacks.

All else aside there is nothing I want or need genAI to do for me. I like reading. I like doing research. I like playing around in spreadsheets. I like interviewing people. I like writing. I like doing these things for myself because I take pleasure in the doing and they make me a better thinker.

“Several deportees who resisted disembarking said they got back on the plane after being told they would be returned to the [US). Instead, they were taken to Equatorial Guinea, loaded into a van, left at a hotel & barred from leaving. They are under constant watch by guards carrying…weapons”

Ten deportees said they experienced or witnessed what they called abusive or violent treatment by ICE. They spent months in detention, they said, before being sent to nations where they had no ties.

this is correct. he is master of the underground, god of the crossroads. Albuquerque hides itself from his wandering peril. Monsters are shorn and quake.

Technology being everywhere doesn’t mean it belongs everywhere. The tech industry wants us to believe that AI in early education is not only inevitable, but necessary. We don't see it that way. This week, we announced a moratorium on generative AI for public school students in 2-K to 8th grade.

We’re eliminating AI use for students in 2-K through 8th grade for the upcoming school year.

If I may get on my soap box: No Kings is a tactic. It is not the strategy and no one involved in putting it on considers it sufficient on its own. It's a mass show of defiance that's also served as an onramp to the kind of local organizing work that's necessary to shift power

I see on-the-ground evidence *on a daily basis* of how people's involvement in No Kings, Indivisible, 50501 has grown into ICE monitoring, flock camera protests, city council blowups over data centers and running for office. THAT was the point of No Kings, all along, from my perspective.

I love the string & washer envelope closure. So satisfying to unlock and (especially) to wind it shut. Been around in this specific embodiment for at least 100 years. Long may it last.

When I was volunteering at the COVID19 vaccine POD in 2021, people would say over and over again that they were getting vaccinated for the people they love. Last year, only 17.5% of American adults got the COVID19 vaccine. Please get one for the people you love. 💕
