Prevention is easier than recovery. Small steps taken before illness spreads can make a big difference: improve indoor air, stay home when sick, mask in higher-risk settings, test when appropriate, and protect the people around you. Public health works best when we act early. #CleanAir

Dark World Health Network graphic with the WHN logo “whn.global” at top left and “World Health Network — Science for a safer, healthier world” at top right. Large central text reads: “Prevention is easier than recovery.” The word “Prevention” is highlighted in bright pink, with the remaining text in white. A large, subtle outline of a respirator mask appears in the lower-right background. Text at the bottom reads: “Clean air, masking, testing, and staying home when sick can help reduce your risk of COVID-19 and Long COVID.” The words “COVID-19 and Long COVID” are highlighted in pink.

Doctors say that childhood vaccines save thousands of lives. A guy who shits himself in public and struggles to pass basic cognitive tests say they cause autism. For busy parents, it can be hard to know who to trust.

So much of Winnipeg is like "we opened this super cool thing, it's open exclusively during regular work hours in downtown Winnipeg." Feels like if you don't work downtown 9-5, most cool stuff in the city just.. isn't for you.

On the point about harassment, at this point I can barely go out without some jackass performatively coughing at me the second they see a mask. That this has become so acceptable and borderline no one gives a shit, and some people just smirk when they see it.. We deserve so much better.

As we recall the trauma caused by COVID in 2020, we should not forget COVID continues to harm. Many still suffer from Long COVID, people who mask are often harassed, and we haven’t scaled clean air infrastructure. If we truly acknowledge past harms, we should be working to create a better future.

Let’s be clear here, when scientists say mistakes were made at the start of the pandemic, we DO NOT mean that we did too much. We mean not socially distancing quickly enough, not making tests widely available, and not acknowledging COVID is airborne and distributing N95 masks to everyone.

Custom art redeem from last night's stream: a pig next to a stack of pancakes. I was so relieved to roll a 6 on this! I'm glad it's gaining some momentum. Should I be worried about how unhinged things may get? Nah, that seems like an adventure for future Lucky!
