Queer romcom author, snack connoisseur, Terry Pratchett enthusiast. Proudly trans and sheepishly neurotic. RECIPE FOR TROUBLE, FALL INTO YOU and SECOND HELPINGS out now! Preorder COMFORT READ, out this October: https://geni.us/1579-al-aut-ch

do YOU need something to read while we wait for our beloved Ao3 to return? would you like it to be queer and fun and hand-crafted by someone who spent decades writing fanfic instead of [checks notes] going to parties or learning marketable skills? boy, have i written some novels for you!

i worked at a spirit halloween in college for less than a month. do not ever do this. interview consisted of my manager asking what i'd do if i arrived at work to find him murdered; quit bc he accused me of stealing $$ from the register to buy & eat a pizza. was very allergic to dairy at the time

In honor of the fired lady tell me about your shortest job tenure. I worked at a candy store for less than 2 weeks when I was like 16

My next book, Comfort Read, is out October 8th! It's a queer fake dating romcom full of heart and feelings and a bookstore cat and people (but never cats) making fools of themselves. I'm awful at talking about my books so here some of the early reviews in which other people talk about it instead 😄

yeahhhh the dark forest theory is a stone cold bummer. i think of my fave alternative as the Prime Directive theory: that whatever else is out there, it tries not to see or be seen by us to avoid influencing our development before we're ready, due to a deep respect/love for life of all kinds

Dark forest theory pisses me off so much. Imagine the brain rot required to look to the night sky and see only foreign invaders.

can you lure flies out of your home by turning OFF all the interior lights, turning ON an exterior light, holding the door open and waiting for them to fly out? yes. will doing so make every witness laugh at you? also yes. does this method essentially make you a butler for flies? i mean... a bit...

"you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" wrong. nonsense. shut up. if you stay alive, insist on kindness, and never stop looking for opportunities to help others, you might just live long enough to see yourself become dolly parton

sometimes being trans is hilarious: few weeks ago i went to grab a sandwich, and i recognized the dude behind the counter from a place i used to eat like 10yrs ago. i asked if he'd worked there, he said yeah, i said i used to go there and it was nice to see him, he said thanks. end of convo. nbd. 🧵

WATCHING THE RESIDENT, EARLY SEASONS: okay, sure, an inoffensive if somewhat mid medical drama. why not? look, the dude from gilmore girls is here! WATCHING THE RESIDENT, LATE SEASONS: we can all agree that this hospital has been cursed by 10,000 witches

today i tried rainbow sherbert for the first time (i was allergic to dairy until a few years ago) and discovered immediately that it's one of my favorite foods. if there's a better way to celebrate the death of that virulent ghoul, i don't know what it is

singular experience of the day: i saw number of skunks. you will not guess the number of skunks i saw; i wouldn't've guessed the number of skunks i saw. IT WAS FIVE!! FIVE SKUNKS!!! A MOM AND 4 BABIES!! JUST THEIR SKUNKY LITTLE FACES PEEPING OUT FROM UNDER A BUSH TIL THEY RETREATED ONE BY ONE! 🦨🦨🦨🦨🦨

yeah, look, fascism is "if you give a mouse a cookie." or, if you prefer, "if you let a mouse take a cookie on what it falsely insists are rational and/or moral grounds." convincing yourself that a few concessions will appease them is a trap; in fact, all it does is prove you're willing to concede

Mekka Okereke@mekka.mekka-tech.com · 5mo ago

I'm not voting for a candidate that wants fascism for trans kids, but safety for me. Don't try to sell me that you're worried about rising fascism, if you think there's enough of a safety margin to throw away the 5% to 10% of anti-fascist votes that you will lose by backing an anti-trans candidate.

One more task for today: call your senators about HR 2616 The "Don't Say Trans" bill literally states it's "defending women from gender ideology." Cis women, I am deputizing you especially. Please make several phone calls to tell them to knock it the fuck off.

HR 2616, a National "Don't Say Trans" Bill, Passed the House. Here's What It Is and What You Can Do.

The House of Representatives passed bill HR 2616, a federal "don't say trans" bill that would harm kids and create mass censorship.

trans people will also continue to be around your whole life. you'll be sharing bathrooms & communities w/ us your whole life; we'll be there whether you know we're trans or not. this horrific moment will eventually pass but transness will not, and our memories of how you act now will also remain

Dr Panti Bliss-Cabrera@pantibliss.bsky.social · last yr.

Trans people have been around your whole life. You’ve been sharing bathrooms with them your whole life. They’ve been in your communities your whole life. They’ve even been playing sport your whole life. And you didn’t care *at all* till a few years ago when every right wing org decided you should

The cover for COMFORT READ by Dylan Morrison against an illustrated backdrop of stacked books. The cover depicts two men in bookshop, one passing another a book from atop a ladder that's leaning against the shelves. A large orange cat stands at the feet of the man on the ground.
