Averaging individual frames and using a rejection algorithm can get rid of those pesky satellite trails to get a nice #astrophotography pic... Here's NGC2655 without pollution, shot over several nights from my backyard. What do you see @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?

Here is roughly 8h of luminance data (over three nights this past week) with this #astrophotography of NGC2655 done without any rejection algorithm. There's a slight satellite trail pollution don't you think? This is sad, knowing that some companies are willing to make things even worse 😢.

Here is roughly 8h of luminance data (over three nights this past week) with this #astrophotography of NGC2655 done without any rejection algorithm. There's a slight satellite trail pollution don't you think? This is sad, knowing that some companies are willing to make things even worse 😢.

A thing about the "AI" debate in science is that I almost never see anyone asking, "well sure LLMs or whatever can be useful sometimes—but what if we put all the money spent on 'AI' into hiring more humans, furthering other technologies & invest into research helping scientists science better"

NGC 4236 captured from my dark site in southern France on three nights in April 🇫🇷😊🔭 This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 with Hyperstar at f/2 for a total integration time of 11.5 hours in RGB+Ha using a QHY183C cam. The Ha data was applied to enhance the star forming regions. #Astrophotography

NGC 4236 is a barred spiral galaxies located in the constellation Draco. It’s about 11 million light years away from Earth.

A quick processing of the beautiful Sh2-124 nebula (showing part of the larger Sh2-124 region) from last Saturday’s imaging session. 🔭 About 70×180s subs. Thanks to @ltno2.bsky.social for the great tip on boosting the Hα emission through the luminance channel.

Using the luminance channel of this image I humbly contributed to, I cross-matched the sources using Sextractor and TopCat with the Milliquas catalogue. Looks like we have some #Quasars, and far away too (FlatLambdaCDM model with H0=70 km/s/Mpc and a 30% matter density). #cosmology #astrophotography
