Here are a few actual facts about welfare payments in the UK in response to fairly nasty, baseless headlines like the below, which are numerous and unfortunately widely believed by the UK population. 🧵

ALLISON PEARSON
Britain must pop the welfare balloon or face ruin.

This summer, make sure your camping licence is up to date! (early days of photoshop we convinced a pub bore he needed licence to camp and made copies for the rest of the group to show when Andy asked each of us in turn if it was bullshit. On Monday he duly visited the Post Office to apply for one.)

Faked 1998 Licence to Camp in the style of old UK dog licences.

Just to note, Toby Young and James Orr’s Free Speech Union paid the legal bills for this guy who plans to be a future ‘Professor of Eugenics and Race Science’ after ‘the revolution’ Young himself supported ‘progressive eugenics’. They’re not even hiding their fact free racism

Organizing my photos from my trip to LAC. I got through ~20,000 pages of documents in 23 boxes and 7 bound volumes, and took ~1,200 photos. I found loads of mildly interesting documents, a few very useful, and one indescribably precious. It was exactly what I hoped to find and didn't think I would.

Welcome back to French Fuck Fridays, where we take a look at a fucked up looking interwar French planes. Today's selection is a personal favorite: the Farman F.120 Jabiru, France's first monoplane commercial airliner which had the aerodynamics of Kool Aid Man smashing through brick walls

An airplane which resembles a box car made airworthy by a triangle of radial engines on the front, a massive parachute-like wing on top, and a prayer.

A little bit of an odd request. Does anyone know any textile history experts with knowledge on the linen trade in Brittany, Normandy, or Flanders during the 18th century? Trying to identify a marking on an object in our collection!

Chelsea get suspended transfer windows and £10m fine, which may as well be 10p? It relates to secret payments to agents when Roman Abramovich was owner. Remember Derby County got deducted 21 points. One rule for the big PL clubs. Absolutely disgraceful.
