I could've spent this whole episode pitching my idea of how to turn DREAMSCAPE into a TV show. I've got two season arcs in the bag, but this could run forever in the old 20+ episode model of television. It's got all the working parts. Anyways, Snakeman!
We continue our journey into Other Worlds Than These with a trip to the Land of Nod in DREAMSCAPE! Nightmare snakemen, nuclear apocalypse, zombies, laser nunchaku, a finger-bladed killer just months before Freddy Krueger hit the screen, and a thoroughly stacked cast. This certainly dreams big.

Clive Barker returns to short fiction with his new horror anthology series LIBRARY OF THE DEAD. Get all the details here.
So glad this is getting a 4K release. We watched it for the first time on @genrevision.com and were definitely struck by its style. And yes, it's essential Nicholas Cage.

Yuuuuuuup. "Don't Engage, Just Block" was a terrific ethos to have instilled early on, and when the main feed doesn't have an algorithm to promote shitty engagement, so much the better. Also why people here are unbothered by being smaller than X - most everyone here is actually real, and not a dick.
This is 100% why people who've been on X for years now get so weirdly bummed out by Bluesky or any other site. It isn't that bsky is a 'bubble', it's that being a shithead in the replies gets you an immediate nuclear-block, rather than immediately rewarded with Skinner-box treats
This is one of the best double features we've ever done on @genrevision.com. Can't go wrong with these two.

It’s a Miami showdown!

Happy birthday to one of the all-time great bad movies, ‘Miami Connection,’ released on this day in 1988: www.flavorwire.com/p/bad-movie-...
"Let's see if you can fight, and he couldn't." Badass.
I just want to know who's baby this is? Because I am proud of her like she's one of mine. This is perfection
Gregory Scott Cummins comes full circle on IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA by once again playing a conniving clown like in BATMAN RETURNS.
Welp, time to spin this "you ruined that song forever for me" version again.
Was Don’t You Want Me? The only song of note for The Human League?

One more time: physical media. And, of course, please don't download your Sony movies from those awful torrent sites. That would make them sad. 😢
It turned out be the other way around. First it merged with performance art, then politics.

I think about this at least a dozen times a day.
Screaming Mad, by himself, made CHILDREN OF THE CORN 3 the best of the series.
RIP to the great Screaming Mad George. There's no Freaked and many many other works, without George. Glad we got to spend some time together in Tokyo a couple of years ago. 💔
I've got a podcast about it. genrevision.com/finflicks

If you could watch just one horror subgenre for the rest of your life, which one would you choose? Slashers, kaiju, body horror? Zombies, vampires, haunted house flicks? Personally, I’d commit to horror-comedies. It’s my favorite flavor by far, and would still allow a diverse mix of monsters.

heather did an amazing job with this seminal oral history of an interview that is featured in the first of her equally seminal books
Today, we learned that "Screaming Mad" George had passed away earlier this year. To celebrate his legacy, I've posted my in-depth interview with him from Monsters, Makeup & Effects: Volume 1: from-the-desk-of-the-horror-chick.ghost.io/remembering-... I was able to make this post public, too. 🖤
Given the state of things re books, predatory corporations, etc... it is more imperative than ever to buy your books from indie bookstores and their online sites. Exclusively.
Goodnight to an absolute legend. Director, musician and special effects artist Screaming Mad George.
The LANTERNS pilot didn't 100% get the hook in my cheek, but the rapport between Pierre and Chandler is the undeniable highlight. I'm also very into structuring the story around three different years/decades. But, the "We Demand To Be Taken Seriously" vibe might get tiring. We'll see.
Screaming Mad George is also indirectly responsible for one of the funniest moments ever: Danny on Game Grumps falling asleep to Screaming Mad George's PS1 game ParanoiaScape and giving us the immortal line, "Thank God fish aren't into cash."
A legend. Watch anything he did effects on (which were sometimes better than their movies!), but if you only choose one, make it SOCIETY. I think it's fair to call it his masterpiece. Rest in peace, Screaming Mad George.
