Marvel did not kill off the Black Panther, the actor Chadwick Boseman died in real life. And Mr. Boseman’s colleagues did not feel comfortable with simply replacing him with another actor. These are real people who knew him in real life. That means more than your action movie desires.

Grief is a fickle, miserable thing. It’s heavier when you’re constantly scared of being mocked when you say your sorrow is about your dog. That dog loved me more than most people I’ve ever known. I will struggle with her loss for a very long time.
