I don't think the Moist von Lipwig books are the *best* Discworlds, but they're the ones I go to when my brain is bad and I need something to read. Raising Steam is the weakest, but I have a lot of affection for the "cramming it all in whole I can" Pratchett writing. Going Postal is 10/10 though.
I'm telling you all, I believe we can achieve social democracy by asking the American people "well what the hell are we paying them for?"

Tolkien was a philologist who hung out with nerds who had PTSD from the trenches and a bunch of Lord Dunsany rattling around in their skulls. Jackson made horror movies and films about dark happenings in New Zealand. It's an incredible work of adaptation.

I've been sick, so haven't been on here even at my lower rate. My apologies to everyone bereft of my insights. It is like walking into an opera at intermission, though. I don't understand half of what you guys are talking about.

I understand the impulse to campaign with this guy because he has a ton of pull with young people most likely to be engaged on the left. It's an apparently huge opportunity. But it's playing with fire, no less than Gavin Newsom with Charlie Kirk.
