The biggest reason I will probably never be a dues paying member DSA member is their willingness to endorse NIMBYs. Super red flag for me for a group that I’d otherwise mostly agree with

In Chicago we can start with parks and libraries. Parks should have 24/7 all gender public bathrooms
Efforts to police bathrooms are evil and will impact peoples' health. Segregated bathrooms themselves must be done away with, it's the only solution. I reported this question out, years ago for @99pi.org 99percentinvisible.org/episode/wher...
"From 2000–2024, there were 528,245 ± 9,042 preventable deaths in U.S. traffic crashes at an economic cost of $754 B and VSL of $4.30 T." Time and time again we have made the choice against proven strategies that would save lives.
New research shows that the US has been a global laggard curbing crash deaths. If the US had merely matched improvements in 14 peer nations, 500,000+ lives would have been saved from 2000-24. doi.org/10.1080/1538...

Community members are re-liberating space tonight from killer cops in Madison, Wisconsin. Here’s a still image from a live feed filmed about an hour ago, community members can be heard chanting, “Say his name, Corey Ruiz.”
Friends are telling me that they are re-occupying Willy St right now. This comes after police forcibly removed the protest encampment earlier today set-up at the intersection where a police officer murdered Corey Ruiz.
a banner found above the front doors of the police HQ in Madison, Wisconsin this morning stated: “Arrest the killer cop, 608-266-4211.”

Who goes transphobe?
by Sandy Ernest Allen It is an interesting and somewhat macabre parlor game to play at a large gathering of one’s acquaintances: to speculate who in a showdown would go transphobe. By now, I think I ...

She cycles around, sets up her bench and a small table with coffee and cake somewhere, and chats with complete strangers. The goal is to strengthen the neighborhood and combat loneliness, particularly among seniors.
It’s official. The WNBA’s 16th team is the Cleveland Sirens.
When you get two cats, how do they decide which one will have a tiny chirp like a pixie’s doorbell and which one will wail like the ghost of a jilted bride?
We built the Stevenson to relieve congestion on Archer. Since that apparently didn't work, we should reassess whether or not we can repurpose or remove some of those expressways that are reaching the end of their initial useful life
Susana Mendoza just slammed the Archer Av. bike lanes as a debacle that has made traffic worse, saying that Archer used to be a great shortcut & a fast thoroughfare. On @wbez.org with @sashaannsimons.bsky.social Anyone who has ever traveled on Archer knows this is BS. It's always been a car sewer
This is the exact bill Republicans in Minnesota tried to pass: genital exams for 7 year olds to play t-ball. Absolutely sick
An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play

Driving should be a chore. It should be a visceral experience. Death should always feel close at hand.
we need a strong republican party and a bipartisan MAHA movement and common sense trans sports bans and a bailout for havana syndrome victims. we need a big tent democratic party that includes war criminals and the lady at the the wellness store trying to get your mom off chemo
