Why yes, it is very important that we have test to measure the exact number of db queries (it’s 53 btw) for a specific lookup. It’s also very important that this test should fail any time that query count changes even if you’re changing files far away from the call site

My first job out of grad school 15 years ago was in violent crime research in Chicago and it was an open secret (and sometimes, not even a secret) that ShotSpotter was not worth the cost whatsoever.

this boils down to "the pandemic didn't actually happen but they still closed the applebees" which frankly i think is a trauma response by a lot of people that buy it - lot easier to be in denial that things were that bad instead of reckoning with 1.3m dead people [in this country]
