I know the tech companies want us all at the mercy of the algorithm but I can't believe that Reddit doesn't have a button that says "I do not, under any circumstances, want to ever be exposed to a post from r/KotakuInAction"

my jaw was on the floor. my ass was on the edge of my seat. my legs were akimbo. my nose was in a book. one foot was in the door and the other was in my mouth. my left hand was washing the right. my right hand didn't know what the other was doing. my ears were to the ground. and my eyes were up here
in 2030 moms will go "Kids, put down that ANBERNIC, dinner's ready!" and the kids will be like "moooom it's not an ANBERNIC, it's a Retroid!!"
at this point the Future of Gameing is pretty clearly steamdeck-style linux handhelds on the high end, android-based chinese handhelds on the low end, and whatever nintendo makes. godot can hit the first two, and console support will still suck but now there's only one console instead of three lol
if this is how much hardware costs then like traditional games are dead dead. it’s not a difficult storm that can be weathered it is simply The End. don’t cry because it’s over smile because it happened type shit
what if there was a game with a title implying it was like the fifth game in a franchise, but as you play it you find Yakuza-style arcade machines where you play the previous installments and find out what happened

maybe I've just been corrupted by video games or whatever but I do think the cyberpunk future should be grimy and dirty as fuck.
also a certain common category of Gamer just assumes that the goal of all video games is to be a perfect realistic simulacrum of a world like ours, so they default to thinking more graphics == more ideal. much to our misfortune these people are also the ones who own the studios.
it is endemic, this. you might suffer from it yourself. people think half-life 1 was trying for realism and do realistic remakes of that. they were hand painting textures and doing pixel art

what you're looking at is what happens when someone is so blind to art that they look at halo 1 and literally don't even notice it's a cartoony game with huge manga influences, the game the Oni people made after Oni. it has nothing to do with technology
they should make some sort of matrix anime. no not like that they already did that and it was very good. I mean like a tv show.
Including shortening the work week in your platform is always a good move cause then the capitalist sympathizers have to explain why that would be bad
I reject AI and the sad future it portends. The point of life, our gloriously 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 raison d'etre, is to use one's own brain to write code to make corporations money.
the KHML trailer arrangement of dearly beloved is tremendously bad
this has been true for years but man is the MCU really is just totally washed. they really should have just canned it once the movie with "end" in the name came out
ODYSSEY SPOILERS (LMAO): love how act 3 Odysseus is legitimately just Batman or John Wick.
Nomura has the sauce but he simply refuses to unleash it. maybe he's afraid of what the film extent of his power could do to the world...
holy fuck im losing my entire mind
what the fuck is going on over there. that game sounds crazy they should have played like that when they had a chance to win
well i haven't watched a lot of anime so unfortunately I do have to say that everyone who likes attack on titan is wrong
What's the worst anime you've ever seen?
someone should make some type of horror themed "Character Action" game
I appreciate the sentiment around bureaucracy and its loyalty to capital but you cannot, in fact, plop down a data center in two months. that isn't happening. the permissions might be there but the data center is YEARS away.
Data Centers are being built in secret. 🤐
an issue with how we talk about the games *industry* is that i think we have normalized talking about studios like interchangeable labor pools instead of groups of artists making creative work
If you are the kind of person who has *ever* said the words to another person "You should watch this movie, it's so fucked up", you absolutely owe it to yourself to watch Possession (1981), the only movie to ever fully harness the power of Sam Neill.
very pointedly noticing that people have only begun to feel comfortable shitting on Christopher Nolan now that the chud youtubers and posters are decrying the Odyssey for being woke.
