I just asked Claude to give me information on TRLs on different technologies, and it cited a peer-reviewed paper in Science stating them, only for me to find out that the paper shows the "TRLs outputted by ChatGPT and Gemini". Great stuff. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... #AI

This is 150% “a thing” in the academy. A friend of mine (WoC) recently bailed on a TT job after just 2 years for a diff Uni. She’s a rockstar, but right after hiring her they started reneging on every promise they’d made in her tenure pkg. I hope the new gig treats her better, but I’m not hopeful.

Thinking a lot about this article today after three relatively junior women, including me, resigned from my department—two of us deciding to leave academia entirely—in a little over a month.

I really enjoy the science and climate community here and I would love for it to grow. If you’re still on X, why not use it to invite people to come over here? I do, every week! RT if you agree 😁

No, we do not have only 'two years left to save the earth.' First, it's not about saving the earth. This ball of rock will be orbiting the sun long after we're gone. It's about saving all of us living things that call it home. Second, there is no such deadline. What the science says is very clear:

In conclusion, the IPCC 1.5C report states that, "every action matters, every bit of warming matters, every year matters, every choice matters."

Every once in a while I check in on Twitter/X and it’s like walking into some kind of white supremacist street gang fraternity house and finding a bunch of my friends and colleagues hanging out in a corner talking about grant applications while passersby are getting assaulted across the room
