Literally the opposite of true. I've had to make a dozen calls to a medical-supply company lately. It takes ~20-45 mins to get past their "I'm sorry, I don't understand. Can you rephrase?" AI-🤡-bot to talk to a listening human. I've given the company a fucking earful about it every time.

For decades I’ve seen some of the most exploitative & abusive people in science sign up to lead DEI committees & conference sessions. No one thinks a thing about it. They get their sticker, look good for a hot second, absolutely nothing changes. It might be the thing that breaks me in this career.

Why must there always be dishes? Always dishes. Why so many? Why?

Annoying thing about this, despite all the burning red flags screaming “FFS, whatever you do, don’t let Todd Blanche lead the DOJ!”, half-a-dozen Dem-establishment Senators will vote to confirm him anyway via “bipartisan cooperation,” all while asking for ActBlue $$ in the midterms to “fight Trump.”

I’m no legal expert, but despite professionalism, I bet the Broadview 6 defense attorneys are personally enjoying this. 😈 Getting federal prosecutors to recoil so badly they say… “Take the money. Just please stop asking questions. No more questions!” …isn’t a thing you do often in a legal career.

I’ve been saying this for years, that profiting journals should pay peer reviewers for their work. But I kinda stopped, because EVERY TIME, I’d get shouted at by incensed academics (of a specific demographic) who thought paying people for work would forever taint the supposed purity of peer review.

Kiros winning a US House primary in Denver is a major sign of progress. Hopefully the Dem Party machine realizes none of their seats are “safe”. But Hickenlooper (the most corporate of do-nothing Dems) also keeping his statewide CO Senate seat tells me there’s still a LOT of organizing work to do.
