Having neither seen the Movie nor read the the Review, I’m staying outta the Odyssey discourse. That seems like a good bet altogether at this point.

Literally the opposite of true. I've had to make a dozen calls to a medical-supply company lately. It takes ~20-45 mins to get past their "I'm sorry, I don't understand. Can you rephrase?" AI-🤡-bot to talk to a listening human. I've given the company a fucking earful about it every time.

Do they even make jeans anymore that don’t blow out at the crotch after 1-2 yrs occasional use? Just so sick of flimsy-assed clothing. Garbage.
For decades I’ve seen some of the most exploitative & abusive people in science sign up to lead DEI committees & conference sessions. No one thinks a thing about it. They get their sticker, look good for a hot second, absolutely nothing changes. It might be the thing that breaks me in this career.
Why must there always be dishes? Always dishes. Why so many? Why?
Annoying thing about this, despite all the burning red flags screaming “FFS, whatever you do, don’t let Todd Blanche lead the DOJ!”, half-a-dozen Dem-establishment Senators will vote to confirm him anyway via “bipartisan cooperation,” all while asking for ActBlue $$ in the midterms to “fight Trump.”
JUST IN: Over 1,200 former DOJ employees just signed a letter urging the Senate to REJECT Todd Blanche's nomination for Attorney General.
I’m no legal expert, but despite professionalism, I bet the Broadview 6 defense attorneys are personally enjoying this. 😈 Getting federal prosecutors to recoil so badly they say… “Take the money. Just please stop asking questions. No more questions!” …isn’t a thing you do often in a legal career.
The feds just made it official: They won't fight a bid by members of the "Broadview 6" for attorneys' fees. They do "not concede that the United States has acted or done anything to warrant those fees." They also say there should be no discovery. Full filing: cst.brightspotcdn.com/dc/d1/e34a37...
I’ve been saying this for years, that profiting journals should pay peer reviewers for their work. But I kinda stopped, because EVERY TIME, I’d get shouted at by incensed academics (of a specific demographic) who thought paying people for work would forever taint the supposed purity of peer review.
Paying journal articles reviewers results in faster and higher quality reviews 🧪 www.nature.com/articles/d41...

“OpenAI has discussed giving a 5 per cent stake to the US government as the $852bn AI start-up seeks to clear political obstacles by securing financial buy-in from the Trump administration.”
Kiros winning a US House primary in Denver is a major sign of progress. Hopefully the Dem Party machine realizes none of their seats are “safe”. But Hickenlooper (the most corporate of do-nothing Dems) also keeping his statewide CO Senate seat tells me there’s still a LOT of organizing work to do.

These are not “far left” positions. These are incredibly popular positions.
BREAKING: Melat Kiros has won the Democratic primary in Colorado’s 1st district. The democratic socialist has unseated the district’s 29-year incumbent by running on Medicare for All, abolishing ICE, ending forever wars and more.

The most useless people on 🌎 don’t ever step up to do the work, but share Big Opinions™ about how it should be done. They act offended if you’re not expressly appreciative of them sharing their thoughts or if you don’t instantly change everything to make it so. They are exhausting.
none of this is true and the place where this is going is potentially very awful

For reasons unrelated to anything at all, I’ve learned about “Commodities Futures trading” lately. And HOLY CRAP it really is just “vibes & funny money.” You buy & sell contracts at months-out future dates for [oil, rice, aluminum, whatevs], which keeps it *hypothetically* tethered to a thing. BUT…

Were the letters removed from the Kennedy Center? I saw watch parties and live feeds of scaffolding slow-set-up yday. Some premature headlines of “it’s down!” Then some court-order-headline BS. Are the physical letters removed now? Or they still up? It’s all symbology. But it’s poignant symbology.
Apparently at this point in my life, if I don’t actively & aggressively stretch every single day, my body locks up like a rusty engine. What the fresh hell.

Something becoming disabled has taught me is how instinctual that response is, to say “something bad happened to this person, they must have fucked up, here’s all the reasons I’m immune.” It’s self-protective and enormously destructive. It’s one of those things you need to teach yourself to check.
What E-Bike would you recommend for a new college student for short trips around town? Web comparisons vary widely. Ideal specs: - Carries up to 220 lb+ - Min 20-mile+ range (36 km) - Removable battery - Lower weight & size is ideal (sometimes stored in a dorm room) - As far under $1000 as possible
It’s easy for Science™ to look down on religion for this. But. At a recent Cryo Science DEI panel (they still occasionally exist!) a senior scientist stated “we have to move forward w/o any blame, or shame.” Same shit, different field. Thankfully the ECRs in the room pushed back quickly on that.
