The ICR might be a world-leading centre of excellence, but when it comes to how it treats its staff, it is at the bottom of the pile. It is rolling in money and pays its CEO a fortune, yet still shortchanges the very staff who ensure its vital work continues.

Scottish Borders Pride yesterday was an unprecedented success. When we were planning for it, we hoped we could attract perhaps 150 people to attend. On the day, we had about 500 and I’m overwhelmed by how positive the messages have been about it.

A large progress pride banner with “Scottish Borders Pride” written on it. Lots of brightly dressed people and flags are evident behind it. Two people stand in front of a big Unite the Union banner, with LGBT EQUALITY, HUMAN RIGHTS, DIVERSITY, COMMUNITY, EDUCATION, written upon it. 100s of people marching down a street. One dude of the street is brick buildings, the other is gardens with flowers. Plenty of brightly dressed people and flags are evident. The sky is blue with a few clouds. A person wearing a colorful scarf and a pink vest is passionately speaking into a microphone.

Repeating what everyone else is saying, but if the devastation and extreme weather taking place in England currently doesn’t convince people, and politicians in particular, to start taking the climate crisis seriously, then I really am in deep despair.
