Here are the daily Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature anomalies (1991-2020 baseline), from 1982 to present. The latest data from July 31th shows an anomaly just under 2.5°C. It's already the 4th warmest El Nino on record with 3 months of additional heating ahead.

I'm a homesteader of sorts who's very collapse and overshoot aware. We're on a one way trip over the cliff.
UK? Canada? Mars????? When posting such things it's important to specify the location and very helpful to give an accurate estimate of how widespread the failures are. This post is amateur hour. Anyone have helpful information to go with this?
This is supposed to be corn, it should be about 8 foot tall and growing corn but there’s absolutely nothing on it, complete crop failure by the looks of things. Farmers are going to severely struggle this year.

Another Brexit benefit - the UK left the EU Civil Protection programme, you know that is quite handy when wildfires and other events happen.. we were participants & helped others, it is open to non-EU members but we can't be seen to do anything with dodgy Europeans institutdelors.eu/publications...

Your 'moment of doom' for July 30, 2026 ~ Wow! "when I run my own forecast model separately on each of six datasets, it gives GISTEMP a ~65% chance of a new 2026 record even as the multi-dataset average only has a ~32% chance and is likely to come in second place." substack.com/home/post/p-...
EUROPEAN RECORD HEAT #1- FRANCE & SPAIN Another exceptional day in France with dozens of records (see list below by Meteociel) Nearly 200 records in 2 days ! In SPAIN almost 43C in Catalunya and Navarra. Among the Monthly records 40.4C Pamplona and 39.7C Calamocha yesterday
Your 'doom quote' for today: "I don't think we're yet evolved to the point where we're clever enough to handle as complex a situation as climate change. The inertia of humans is so huge that you can't really do anything meaningful." www.theguardian.com/science/2010...
James Lovelock: Humans are too stupid to prevent climate change
In his first in-depth interview since the theft of UEA emails, the scientist blames inertia and democracy for lack of action

How might oil supply disruptions reshape the things you do, consume, and think about in your daily life?
This post details exactly why nothing was ever going to happen to lead us in any other direction than self imposed extinction. Too stupid to live describes humanity as a whole perfectly.
Wildfires have exploded in northern Minnesota and Ontario in the last 24 hours, producing thick smoke plumes and even some pyrocumulonimbus clouds. The smoke has drifted across eastern Canada and the northeastern U.S., creating hazy skies over those regions today.
The amount of heat in the ocean has rapidly increased. I don't see how we could be far from a kind of permanent el nino. www.facebook.com/share/p/1BXC... www.researchgate.net/publication/...
