In our latest preprint on bioRxiv, we present the in situ structure of the human gap junction at 14 Å resolution using cryo-ET. The structure provides a blueprint for investigating how connexin regulation shapes intercellular communication in health and disease.

Our latest story describes the amazing evolutionary battle between malaria parasite and human. The parasite evolved RIFINs to bind inhibitory KIR receptors and suppress immune cell function while humans have activating KIR receptors to bind these RIFINs to kill parasites!

Outer membrane protein TraT protects bacteria from secondary F plasmid conjugation. Here, the authors report cryo-EM structure of decameric cork-like TraT and its evolutionary history as a chromosomal gene that has been incorporated into multiple plasmid families.
