Reminder ahead of tomorrow's solar eclipse. It is very dangerous to look directly at the Sun. Same applies to the Mail, the Express and the Telegraph.
Article about fires in Suffolk and wow what a quote - did/do people not care about climate change cause they thought it’s a problem for the developing world only? Speechless
Wonder when concerned citizens of Harrogate will be marching to protest the presence of large numbers of fighting age men on a military base just outside their town, some of whom have been harassing and sexually assaulting our women and girls. Oh, wait, they are British military recruits
Not sure why people are worried about possible future crime by asylum seekers who may be housed in military base near Thetford. Seems they should be more worried about actual current violent crime being committed by White Brits.
Calls to ban disposable barbecues in England and Wales over wildfire risk
Calls to ban disposable barbecues in England and Wales over wildfire risk
Lib Dems and many Labour MPs join farmers, landowners and firefighters in urging temporary prohibition Farmers and landowners are calling for a temporary ban on disposable barbecues in England and Wales, as they warn of the risk of igniting wildfires. The call, which has also been made by firefighters and is backed by the Liberal Democrats and many Labour MPs, comes as much of England faces further hot dry weather, despite rain in some areas. Really difficult issue. I too would want to send the racist patient away, but if life at risk can't do that. If we accommodate bigotry, are we condoning it? But if not, are we then forcing our non white colleague into a situation where they face further abuse?
their best for the patient and sometimes that was determined to be accommodate a racist preference for the sake of treating the patient while maintaining a relationship with the caregivers. Even though legally, I don't think (having now looked it up) a requirement to accommodate racist requests 2/4
Yesterday #BBCNews broadcast a political news conference by someone who is not an MP but who is a candidate for election in the #Clacton by-election. Under impartiality rules, they should allow equal time and prominence to other candidates, including the leading opponent #Binface #MakeYourVoteCoint
Farage once again describing asylum seekers as "invaders" and wants to deploy the Navy against them, risking military conflict with France. Clacton: #MakeYourVoteCount #VoteBinface
There is only one European nation with fewer hospital beds per capita than the UK Sweden but they have the highest number of care home & nursing home beds 26% fewer care home beds 23% fewer nursing beds Fewer hospital beds Then people wonder why A&E is blocked
Looking forward to embracing Mediterranean life. We can enjoy the same things as eg Crete:
This grotesque headline is from the Telegraph. 3,000 people in Britain have been killed in heatwaves this year so far. 20,000 in Europe. Even if Britain did get to “embrace Mediterranean life”, what about the actual Mediterranean, what do they get to embrace? What about India?
Frankly, your country and the rest of the world could do with this attitude! bsky.app/profile/coun...
Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface
Another cracker from @sheffieldtribune.bsky.social. I am very much not a man of the outdoors but it seems obvious disposable barbecues should be banned.* If people are dumb enough to think a bottle of water can prevent a moor fire, they should be allowed near fire. *my opinion, not the articles
Saw a few spots of something strange and wet appear on the garden this morning, accompanied by grey clouds. But it's OK, it only lasted a few minutes and has disappeared now. I vaguely remember seeing something similar in the past, only IIRC it didn't seem such a fleeting phenomenon back then.
While waiting for government retailers could stop selling them. I noticed a big stock of disposable wildfire starter (oops, barbecues) in my local @sainsburysofficial.bsky.social last week
I think we're at the stage now where there should be zero competent complaints if the government were to ban disposable barbecue packs.
This is what it did to the brachial plexus. Wouldn’t trust it as far as I could throw it.
Musk says medical school not needed as AI will take over from surgeons in next 3 years AI:
Sad to hear of the death of Bill Oddie. As a kid, the Goodies was one of my favourite shows.

Maybe the teenagers working part time can walk to work. Or catch a bus (cheaper than taxi). Maybe ride a bike - which is much cheaper than a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair.
Teenagers on Pip paid £100 a week more than those working part-time
I, for one, would support our utility companies being run by the Church of England.
I used to tap on an email attachment to get an instant preview. V convenient. Now, before I can see it, an AI bot insists on giving me its summary and interpretation of contents and offers further information on subjects mentioned in it. Burning the planet to waste my time. 🤬
Do Americans insist on having half time shows in big sporting events because most of their sports are so boring that they need something to keep the crowd entertained?
Ok, time yo take off Rashford, Saka and Toney and bring on 6 defenders for the next 75 minutes.
This is genius. Farage is doomed & he’s going down in the funniest way possible.

Totally agree. Birthplace of Erling Haaland, too.
Yes @thesquareball.net stop saying Leeds isn't really good for tourists. The art trail, Royal Armouries, Corn Exchange, little yellow boats, art galleries, Kirkstall Abbey, Thackray Medical museum, beautiful parks, even roof top tours of Leeds. And a major foody destination! Time Out agrees with me.
People of Clacton putting their party election signs out. Early indications suggest strong support for one candidate.
This is such an important point. By people providing care not getting anywhere near judging a person's ability to pay, you tend to think of people as people rather than as units of profitability. Long may this continue.
It’s a joy (too often forgotten) to work with so many dedicated NHS colleagues and provide care without having to ask for individual payment
