So the ‘negotiation’ involves blowing smoke up Putin’s arse, asking him what he wants then attacking Ukraine for refusing to concede it. Never forget the huge swathe of UK media & political figures who celebrated Trump’s ascent while claiming to care about Ukraine. Absolute heels, the lot of them.

Kushner on Ukraine: “President Putin's laid out his line of what he wants to achieve. If Ukraine, you know, wanted to withdraw to that line, then obviously, you know, we have the rest of the deal set up and put together. Ukraine right now does not want to do that.” Putin’s brain cell

Well my star turn at the local agricultural show yesterday was not one I would recommend - tripped over and fell underneath my trotting pony whilst rushing between rings 😢 Still managed to get her to the right ring on time for my friend to show but it is pretty bloody ouchy 😳

Good. Now do it again with proper safeguards once we have proper end of life / palliative care services, and the benefits system is set up to make sure no one bankrupts their loved ones by choosing to stay alive a few more months.

A missed opportunity - not really because of the legislation itself (which is no great loss IMV) but because of the failure to pursue a proper assisted dying bill and to have a proper discussion about death and dying:

NEWS: Donald Trump’s own nephew, Fred Trump, is publicly calling out his uncle’s lies about 9/11, saying Trump’s claim that he brought a crew of workers to Ground Zero “so offends me that I need to speak out.”

Alt text: Screenshot of a post on X from Fred Trump (@FredTrump_) that reads:

“There are two reports out today that relate to the tragedy of 9/11. I will comment on them today because doing so on the 25th anniversary this Friday would take away from the solemn memories. I try not to comment personally about my uncle, but his claim that he brought a crew of workers to help at the sight so offends me that I need to speak out. He was not building a “big building “ at the time. The only crew he claimed to bring to the site would have been secretarial and accounting employees from Trump Tower I knew many of them, and pretty sure they were not capable physically to help (if they could, I am sure they would try). Regarding the US Steel Building, ironically, the grandfather of a very close friend of mine was one of the original engineers- the bldg was built strong. Second, the brother of a partner of mine was an engineer that was immediately called to perform an inspection. While people were originally concerned, it was eventually cleared for occupancy- not creaking and ready to fall. I hope this brings some truth to that story. The second story will follow. If criticism of the Israeli Gov is wrong because they are Jewish then, ergo, the Israeli Gov can do whatever they want because they are Jewish. This is an insane position to take.

The Chief Rabbi can’t have it both ways: he can’t both condemn those conflating UK Jews with Israel, and then do it himself by claiming UK policy towards Israel will harm UK Jews. Either UK Jews are distinct from Israel, or they’re not. Which is it, Rabbi? www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Left: Kemi Badenoch is really angry that a Labour policy means £330 million less in tax income every year Right: Wait till she finds our that Conservative Brexit costs us £90 billion in less tax income every year, that more than 292x as much

Media presenters in UK may have skewed perceptions of balamce of Jewish opinion towards Israeli govt. Centre of gravity aligns with Miliband (attached to Israel & critical of Netanyahu). Varies by faith/denomination & politics: many cons & mainstream orthodox disapprove Netanyahu govt too. See IJPR

Well, today is the 109th anniversary of Lord ‘Jacky’ Fisher writing to a future Prime Minister and (apparently) inventing the abbreviation OMG—well, using it in print for the first time, anyway

LORD FISHER TO THE RIGHT HON. WINSTON CHURCHILL.
MY DEAR WINSTON,
I AM here for a few days longer before rejoining my "Wise men" at Victory House-
"The World forgetting, By the World forgot!"
but some Headlines in the newspapers have utterly upset me! Terrible!!
"The German Fleet to assist the Land operations in the Baltic."
"Landing the German Army South of Reval."
We are five times stronger at Sea than our enemies and here is a small Fleet that we could gobble up in a few minutes playing the great vital Sea part of landing an Army in the enemies' rear and probably capturing the Russian Capital by Sea!
This is "Holding the ring" with a vengeance!
Are we really incapable of a big Enterprise?
I hear that a new order of Knighthood is on the tapis -O.M.G. (Oh! My God!) - Shower it on the Admiralty!!
Yours, FISHER. 9/9/17.
