Today's outing to the War Memorial Gardens was more idyllic than usual. Barely a ripple of current in the Liffey, people throwing tennis balls into the river for their dogs to fetch. So calm that even joggers seem far too active given the surroundings. Butterflies fit right in...

A wonderfully impressive commemorative sculpture, titled ‘Spioráid Ban Chiarraí’ was unveiled in Tralee Town Park yesterday. It honours the revolutionary women of the county - I was honoured to be on the committee which choose this particular submission. Isn’t she formidable, as were those women.
