There wasn’t anything going on at the rotary club but then I heard about this.

My wife just said that the baby's old enough to "learn the concept of ouch" and I immediately envisioned the 2011 NYT best seller "The Concept of 'Ouch': Why Other People Don't Realize They're Hurting You"

All the Fauci stuff is a modern day version of the POW/MIA stuff after Vietnam - a way to try to rewrite the history of a huge failure of conservative ideology to be instead a story about how liberals and foreigners stabbed us in the back.

Flew cross country recently (hold for applause) and the man in front of me watched YouTube reviews of assault weapons half the flight, paused to watch The Rip, scrolled his IG feed to watch a comedian do a bit about FIFA bringing dirty immigrants into the country, then did 2hrs more gun reviews

I feel like making with small talk with people saying “didn’t you think the score was annoying?” about The Invite is 2026’s version of that year I politely nodded through conversations with people saying “didn’t you think Uncut Gem’s score was annoying?”

A man behind me at the opening weekend screening of X-Men 3. Completely silent the whole movie except when Kelsey Grammer as Beast was onscreen. Said “yeah!” every time he said a line. Then when Beast had a fight scene started yelling “GET EM BEAST GET EM”

Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema? During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.

A guy several Bloody Marys deep at the LAX Book Soup paying with a $100 and telling the cashier to “keep the change. I just heard about the flood.” (He’s not real I just invented him)

Late night cursed thoughts corner: did Pearl Jam and Neil Young performing together on the VMAs inadvertently lead to Kurt Cobain quoting Neil in his suicide note AND Tom Petty getting into heroin again?

Yes, gas prices are going up but our new PAYNE AT THE PUMP program will make it fun for the whole family: now you can watch 1995's MAJOR PAYNE in 2.5 minute bites! Note: It will not remember what scenes you've already watched. And sometimes it will show 1994's RENAISSANCE MAN but we don't know why.

Image of a gas pump with a screen that has an image from the beloved 1995 Damon Wayans vehicle MAJOR PAYNE showing on the screen.

There is also an image of an arrow pointing to a button next to the screen. This is the MAJOR PAYNE button. It will not work, the screens on the gas pumps will always just be showing MAJOR PAYNE (a loose adaptation the 1955 Charlton Heston film THE PRIVATE WAR OF MAJOR BENSON) on a loop, so you can't pick a scene and it will not remember what part you saw last time and you can't turn it off or turn the volume down. But you can push the MAJOR PAYNE button if you want to.

But also it will sometimes be showing the 1994 Danny Devito/Gregory Hines movie RENAISSANCE MAN. We're not sure why or how, we didn't acquire the rights for RENAISSANCE MAN to stream on gas pumps. But it plays it sometimes anyway. Sometimes it seamlessly switches between the two movies. It's fucking weird, man.

Anyway, yes, gas is going way up but this should probably even it out for you, this 150 seconds you'll be able to watch of MAJOR PAYNE (directed by Nick Castle, who also directed THE LAST STARFIGHTER and wrote the screenplays for ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and HOOK and appeared as Michael Myers in four different HALLOWEEN movies. You will not be able to watch any of these while getting gas. Just MAJOR PAYNE and, again, parts of or sometimes the entire film RENAISSANCE MAN, directed by the late Penny Marshall and the big screen debut of Mark Wahlberg. Also starring Kadeem Hardison.)

The last time I was in South America I brought back a bottle of the USA-banned medicine Buscapino, which stops constant diarrhea. So the joke is on you, suckers, all that hot toxic soup is never leaving my body!
