cabaret, by the way, is a musical set in a nightclub that starts as part of a deliciously seedy underworld where people of all genders, sexualities and ethnicities are welcome but which ends up conforming to mainstream fascism. if you’ve been on bsky for a while i think you’ll really “get” it

just saw cabaret in the west end, and good lord what a production. never seen anything like that effort put into the atmosphere. btw pro tip: the cheap seats in the upper circle are absolutely fine - you see and hear everything.

I think ePhonic's Invader 2 is the best sounding small analogue synth VST I have. Always sounds good. No dead spots. Overdrives internally in a pleasing way. It's the closest experience to a hardware analogue that I've had in software. An absolute sleeper and it's PWYW.

More decluttering finds... From 2006, this was how we would share music with other PEOPLE WE WERE ACTUALLY WORKING WITH! And I notice the sticker is still intact, 20 years later! Must have never listened to it, so it stayed very secure.

Internal music CD distribution from the film Across The Universe, with stickers that read "IF THIS STICKER HAS BEEN BROKEN WHEN RECEIVED PLEASE CONTACT THE PERSON WHO SENT IT TO YOU IMMEDIATELY" and "This CD is watermarked for Blake Leyh."

Just found some papers in a drawer that reminded me: Jonathan Demme's film "Rachel Getting Married" had a working title of "Dancing With Shiva," which I preferred. More evocative, less generic. I enjoyed working on the film (as sound designer) & Jonathan was always a pleasure, in my experience.

Look. Fauci is not above criticism. As I and many Black health professionals have said many times before, Fauci's decisions lead to hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths. At first, most of these deaths were Black people. Later, most were white people. As we said would happen.

@todymotmot@mastodon.social @heathen_cat@furs.social Here's what I know about the "China CDC🤡" Fauci lied at least three times. Once, when he said that people didn't need to buy N95 equivalent mask...

delicious coincidences of history led Vietnamese immigrants to recreate spicy French-inspired seafood-heavy cuisine for hot garden-rich weather from first principles in New Orleans and it's my favorite food in America

So I'm 90% through Cool Machine and I just gotta say that if Carney is not in possession of the coffee table at the end of the book - the one with the interlocking pieces of ash root, cherry, ivory, and whatnot - I shall be dissatisfied. After all this I'm not buying a MacGuffin.

Sometimes, rarely, we would come up with an absurd justification like "maybe Tom Verlaine had a test pressing of that single and he gave it to the bartender" because I really wanted to use a specific song in a scene that took place a week before the song was actually released. 🙄
