I'm going to start a novel niche of quackery. So I can get a government job one day. I'm torn between "kimchi enemas" and "jerking off won't make you gay if you do it with my magic light shining on your dick."

Coastal volunteers spent eight days collecting trash from beaches along the Gulf Coast that artists used as materials for creating tactile artworks displayed at the Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport that convey the dangers of pollution to oceanic environments. buff.ly/wFWA28J

I started thinking about this broadly true statement in terms of location. In 1986 the Sunflower in Pickens had a nice selection. It's gone now and there was no replacement. But go to Jackson now and you can get what you'd have to go to New Orleans or Memphis for in 86.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

Obviously any Tangerine Dream soundtrack is going to rule, but I'm currently loving the one for The Park Is Mine (1985), the perfect cool techno soundtrack for a VHS thriller about Tommy Lee Jones, Vietnam Vet taking over Central Park. But goddamn what a soundtrack. I gotta see this.

Even at our Big Age my wife will have one (1) alcoholic beverage and be like "TIME FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY (dancing, exercise, [REDACTED]" whereas I have one and it's time to SIT. Maybe even LAY DOWN.

So. I don't know much about bsky technology or content moderation so I have given this site the benefit of the doubt sometimes. But I *DO* know something about corporate communication and JESUS FUCK THEY'RE BAD AT IT. This is Elon Musk style shitheel speech. I can only imagine the rest is shit, too.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
