I'm honored to be the cover story at @unwinnable.com. I wrote about the revolutionary politics of Final Fantasy X, the way systems sustain themselves at all costs, and having the strength to burn the world down so you can find the future in the ashes. Happy 25th to one of the greatest.

youtube: would you like to watched a six hour, ‘nuanced and apolitical’ essay about the truth behind gamergate me: what. don’t talk to me. go away. jesus

There are people in this industry who claim they want to help others but actually just laugh as they kick them off a cliff, and it's sickening. Talk about pulling the ladder up

There isn't going to be a future generation of games journalists by the way, if the last few years haven't made that clear. Not unless we seriously start holding some people to the fire

Something that irks me about the game industry is that after layoffs you'll see a ton of posts from editors offering work for the laid off people. But there's loads of freelancers who have been looking for work for AGES that don't get a look in.

I dunno man. I've actively been trying to get out of games media as my main profession for most of the year now and I've had, like, four job interviews. The entire market is so incredibly messed up

I got laid off! 👋 There was no chance to say goodbye to my colleagues of several years before Valnet deactivated everything so I’ll just say it was a huge pleasure to be part of trying to build something unique within the games media landscape despite going up against so many challenges.

Ryan Plays Pokémon: Ranking every evil plan in mainline Pokémon games based on how much they would annoy me

Sure, the villains in Pokémon games are all "bad guys," but which ones would personally inconvenience me the most?

Hey, let's talk about money and @skyboxcritics.com again. Last month, we hit $250 a month! Yay! This month, we're below that again. I'm not shaming anyone; times are hard. But the reality is Skybox operates at a loss that I make up personally, and that's becoming more and more unsustainable. 1/X
