Middle-aged white cishet lady trying not to be a jerk. American in Scotland. Really honestly nobody. She/her. #ActuallyAutistic. Profile pic by Camilo Aguire.

Just finished this one and WHEW. I mean tbh I wanted to scream at the very premise of signing up for solitude and discovering precisely one (1) other person is there, so I should have known this would keep crawling right under my skin. Is “autistic horror” a genre?

After a violent incident at work, Tamsin makes a fresh start in a cottage far from her old life. But the solitary cottage is actually a semi-detached, with only a thin wall between her & a total stranger. Preorder: geni.us/homesick Goodreads: tinyurl.com/3mdv69dp Storygraph: tinyurl.com/6j5n5xyx

The cover for HOME SICK on a gradient pink background with half a sheep's head. The cover features two sheep heads looking to the viewer, one with black shark-like eyes. The title of the book is in a pointed, thick font, swirling and dominant. Around the book text reads "This house isn't haunted. She is."

Little known to many, on the 10th June, the government released the interim report on ADHD and neurodiversity services in the UK. It came out to very little fanfare. Why? Because it doesn't match the government & the press narrative on "an epidemic of neurodiversity diagnoses".

If you are unaware of just how serious recent changes to guidance for schools re trans kids is, read this thread. It is horrific. Stop worrying about what Reform would do if elected and start seeing clearly what this Labour government is already doing. 😡😢

Just had meeting with kiddo's school. She has been fully supported, treated with full equality & dignity for years. All of that changes from September. Full segregation & humiliation across the board. The school staff cried in the meeting. This will absolutely lead to children's deaths 1/2

Thomas Paine is my favorite founding father. He was famously abolitionist and one of the earliest voices to point out the hypocrisy of fighting for independence while keeping slaves. He also firmly believed that keeping any friendship which required compromising your morals made you a bad person.

The founder we should talk more about is Thomas Paine, who will fuck your shit up every time. Here he is in The Rights of Man just ripping into any ideas of "originalism" and that kind of garbage.

Every age and generation must be as free to act for itself, in all cases, as the ages and generations which preceded it. The vanity and presumption of governing beyond the grave, is the most ridiculous and insolent of all tyrannies. Man has no property in man; neither has any generation a property in the generations which are to follow. The parliament or the people of 1688, or of any other period, had no more right to dispose of the people of the present day, or to bind or to controul them in any shape whatever, than the parliament or the people of the present day have to dispose of, bind or controul those who are to live a hundred or a thousand years hence. Every generation is, and must be, competent to all the purposes which its occasions require. It is the living, and not the dead, that are to be accommodated.

crazy to me that rich people have been so successful in perpetuating the lie that the poor are stealing from everyone. they don't have any money. the rich people are the ones with the money! that's who stole the money

For many LGBT folk like me, and especially trans folk, Keir Starmer will be remembered in the same way as Margaret Thatcher: with deep contempt for having overseen a deeply hostile, queerphobic government, which rolled back human rights and set society back by at least a decade. Good riddance.

I get the impression that some people aren't clear what this means. This is the UK state deciding to intervene directly in the healthcare of individual children, depriving them of medicine that their doctors have prescribed for their personal health & wellbeing, in defiance of global best practice.

Update: Young people & families today received shocking & transphobic letters from NHS. These letters tell people that endocrine care (blockers / HRT) is being fully withdrawn in 7 weeks time (July 31st). Forced medical detransition. This country is a danger to trans children & young people.

THIS. Do I worry about the effects of social media on my 11-year-old? Obviously yes. Do I think she should be banned from it any more than young men falling into the manosphere on Reddit, middle-aged ladies being dragged into transphobia on Mumsnet, or pensioners radicalised by Facebook? 100% no.
