Penned by my stellar EB colleagues: "We suggest that now is a useful moment in which to think again, to bring ‘the state’ back into view and examine the tools that are available to make sense of the present. [cont.]

A timely and critical collective essay on 'the state of the state', written by five members of our Editorial Board @will-davies.bsky.social @andrew-barry.bsky.social @iliasalami.bsky.social Linsey McGoey and Samantha Ashenden www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Fortunate and grateful to be part of this editorial collective which still pursues all the good things of academic endeavour, ie theoretical debates and rigorous analysis, which are discussed in-person in lively editorial committee meetings. And not many good things like this are left in academia.

Not at this journal! Our scope most definitely continues to include research problems that are not data-rich, especially when connected with social theoretical debates. Submissions without AI are very welcome. www.ft.com/content/0c63... via @FT
