The proposed budget slashes NIH by ~40%, devastating medical research, clinical trials, treatment breakthroughs—life-saving work. Thousands of lives at risk for tax cuts for the rich? NO THANKS. Tell your senators to oppose the cuts HERE: zurl.co/qiKdX zurl.co/RCR0y #CutsCostLives
Will the Senate Save NIH?
Rescuing biomedical research is every bit as important as saving Medicaid.

Check out this new preprint with @distefanolab.bsky.social lab! The manuscript focuses on RNA processing in the form of sequestration into P-bodies in the context of development.
New preprint from the lab! With @brumbaugh-lab.bsky.social , we show that P-bodies sequester developmentally relevant RNAs to influence cell fate. miRNAs direct this conserved regulatory process, and manipulating it enhances totipotency and germ cell programming. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

It’s crazy how receiving an automated -previously routine- email that my grant application is scheduled for review this summer brought smile to my face! It can still be trashed but at least it would be after peer-review!!! #PIlife #GirlsJustWanttoHaveFUNding #StandforNIH
USA has been traditionally on the receiving end of braindrain thanks to its world class research and a culture of inclusivity…! Let’s see how that will play out…

A nonsensical threat to: One of the most important advances in biotechnology of our time, already being used to successfully treat refractory cancers, enable genome editing, develop vaccines for infectious diseases for which there are none, treat autoimmune diseases, and more.
Exclusive: NIH officials have advised scientists to remove reference to mRNA vaccines from their grant applications, in expectation the Trump administration intends to abandon most research in the field. By @arthurallen202.bsky.social kffhealthnews.org/news/article...

I received one of the 232 NIH grant "terminations" sent to scientists at Columbia last night. My research focuses on improving maternal and child health in the US. Also affected: ongoing clinical trials, research training programs, and research centers that aim to improve the health of Americans.

The National Institutes of Health is terminating 232 grants for scientific research at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, according to an email an administrator sent to faculty.

Devastating and outrageous!!! Where are we heading to???
I have confirmation from several sources now that all T32s, many F30s and F31s, and most or all Center awards (P30, P50) have been terminated at Columbia. This is quite damaging to research and to individuals. This is pure terrorism and cannot be legal. But litigation will take time...
