This news story is horrible, but what _really_ upsets me is the people I imagine who don't care about it
My most unpopular opinion is that not every book has historical and cultural significance and it is not, in fact, morally wrong to shred books. There are a shit ton of books out there that are "old" and "rare" and it's fine to shred them. They're in the Library of Congress probably.
#OldTrailsFire in Spokane now appears to be most destructive wildfire in WA State history by wide margin (650+ structures lost), w/additional TBD losses nearby. Other PacNW fires actively burning, though less destructive, are far larger & could burn for weeks amid severe drought.

When I started in tech, I feared being the stereotypical woman in the room forced to take notes for the group, so I avoided it. But as I advanced in my career I realized that agenda setting and note-taking were what turned meetings into decision-making sessions and not just group rants.

It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them

Further interesting scenario is human recollection / notes (taken by habit by a person) conflict with AI summary
