Carney is a 20th century leader. And not one of the transformational ones who took big swings to build things, one of the neoliberal late stage ones that tore society down. His vision is of a Canada that doesn't do big things, it has more soldiers and fewer of everything else.

Carney's appeals to nostalgia are apt, because none of his ideas are about a Canada of the future. It's all about a return to the past. Fossil fuels, big army, powerful corporations. It's all more of the same but worse. That's the Canada he's selling.

the levels of elite impunity we are seeing now and the levels of war crimes we are seeing now are two aspects of the same path of historical development. right now they see war as our problem (and their investment opportunity). it is world historically important that we make war their problem again

Canada's parliament started the week giving a standing O for free speech and the memory of Charlie Kirk. They ended it by joining Orban's Hungary and Trump's America in targeting @kneecapceol.bsky.social an Irish hip hop group for challenging the genocide. Not our finest hour.

Yet @mark-carney.bsky.social thinks an Irish rap group is somehow the problem. I wish PM Carnage cared as much as about stopping genocide as he does silencing voices critical of it. Canada is sick of your empty words.
