Richard Brautigan *probably* died on this day in 1984. His exact date of death is unknown, as his highly decomposed body was only found on October 25. However, September 16 is the likeliest date given that this was the day neighbours heard what might have been the self-inflicted gunshot.

RIP, Peter Max, the only graphic artist I can think of whose brand was so omnipresent that he managed to get his own cereal. Reid Miles never got a cereal. Hipgnosis never got a cereal. Roy Kuhlman never got a cereal. Only Peter Max. His work graced everything from earrings to phone books.
