This was the second largest congressional swing in living memory. You know what the largest was? 1976, after the president resigned in disgrace. Why on earth shouldn't we be seeking a world where Trump resigns in disgrace? History suggests that's the absolute maximum damage you can do to his party.

The WSJ is out with an editorial suggesting there was no need for “all the hyperventilating about what Mr. Trump might do” to meddle with the midterms—after all, they went forward without incident. I think that's as wrong as wrong can be, and say so in my new Cato post.

It Was Failed Election Meddling, Not Absence of Election Meddling

Yes, the Trump administration attempted to meddle in the 2026 midterm elections, even if the meddling didn’t work.

Judge: What you’re telling me is that the United States of America is going to send individuals back to that region facing what you and I and everyone who would ever look at this would know would be at a minimum a serious threat of certain death? Gov’t Lawyer: Yes, Your Honor. …

I stopped by Renee and Alex’s memorials today and was inspired to see all those who showed up to pay their respects and leave an “I voted” sticker. We have not forgotten. Accountability is coming.

House Republicans are expected to vote to directly repudiate Pete Hegseth in a matter of days. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, the famously anti-Trump GOP lawmaker, plans to trigger a vote to impeach Hegseth when Congress returns next week — and multiple GOP sources said they expect it to pass.

It would be really useful for people who know better to not promise that Congress can prosecute (as opposed to impeach) people. It is a VERY difficult problem to solve, how to prosecute the villains. Congress can be a big part of laying groundwork. But they can't prosecute.

bzzt wrong. we want prosecutions. i want to see these bastards investigated and prosecuted so extensively that when we’re done with every living ICE agent and epstein associate, we dig up the bones of the dead ones and hold a cadaver synod.

NEW: Thousands of Mississippians — whose votes may decide a critical U.S. Senate race — are still waiting to have their ballots counted. That’s because of the GOP secretary of state’s contract with Experian, a global credit reporting agency whose data has been described as riddled with errors.

JUST IN: Democrats have won control of the state government of Wisconsin. For the first time since 2010. They have flipped the state Senate & flipped the state House, and kept the governorship. Among the thingS they're likely to do: repeal Scott Walker's restrictions on collective bargainins.

Wowza! In the Alaska Senate race, Dan Sullivan is up about 2.5K votes with 72% reported, but if you look at which precincts have reported, the Sullivan+ districts are mostly in, while the Peltola+ districts still have a lot more to go (as is usually the case). Peltola is v. likely to win.

HOLY SHIT: North Carolina Democrats just overcame gerrymandering and flipped the state House, ending 16 years of Republican legislative dominance. This has enormous implications for gerrymandering and voting rights

VICTORY: The North Carolina House has flipped for the first time in 16 years! Congratulations to the lawmakers in this new majority who will head to Raleigh to continue their work to improve the lives of all North Carolinians!

Raskin: We now have the first-person accounts of five different women saying that they were sexually assaulted by Trump. And then we have another six women, for a total of 11, who link him to the whole network of sex trafficking of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
