To be fair, I did do a bit of “sort it yourselves” while the projects were still underway, but it came with coaching: 1) What’s *your* plan for talking to your wayward peer and seeing if you can wrangle them back onside? 2) What’s your contingency for filling the gaps & getting stuff done?

I encourage everyone to treat this election as the Carter Foundation would treat an election in a compromised democracy. Make sure to train to be a vote observer in your local community. Support the early voting as much as possible. Understand how the vote is reported.

Lots of folks are skeptical Trump has the manpower, or rank-and-file loyalty, to actually pull off a self-coup. But it's clear he learned from last time and that he can and will cause chaos in a way that makes Jan 6 look like a walk in the park. It's less clear his opponents are ready to respond.

the one thing I think about a lot is that there have been other periods in history when things seemed similarly bleak, and people simply did not hear about all them every second of every day like they do now. you’ve got to pick 2-3 things you can meaningfully work to change and get to work on them

one thing i've done a pretty thorough about face on the past couple years is rejecting despair as a default. i have a good life and am very fortunate in many ways so might be easy for me to say but just in general i can't abide dooming about everything all the time

They were clustered together looking at maps and out the window and I offered to take a group photo and the mom gratefully took me up on it A little weird of me to offer, sure, but they were already together and the mom had previously asked her daughter to take a photo of three of them earlier 🤷🏻‍♀️
