I don't think it would be "rushing to judgement" to see the press hounding people - especially people of colour- has been going on for a long time. Really spineless response from the Prime Minister here that utterly fails to recognise the moment to tackle the press. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Jason Arday death 'tragedy on so many levels' says PM

Andy Burnham says the former Cambridge professor's death is a "really sad, sad and sorry state of affairs".

bbc.co.uk

50 green groups write to Andy Burnham demanding he be clear that climate change is the cause of the current extreme heat crisis. Greenpeace, WWF, Friends of the Earth and others say "the British public deserves leadership that speaks honestly about the nature of the challenges the country faces"

Still gobsmacking that Andy Burnhams response to the deaths from the climate crisis has been to pledge to try & stop the sale of single use barbeques. A monumental mistake. Time to do the right thing. Fund our firefighters & say no to new oil & gas. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Green groups urge Andy Burnham to break silence on climate crisis

More than 50 organisations say PM urgently needs to show leadership and prepare British people for scale of change needed as UK struggles through another heatwave

theguardian.com

Temperatures have topped 38C today (the previous hottest day set on 26 June this year), hitting 38.1C in Kew Gardens. Officially the hottest day of the year. Climate change is real.

Water nationalisation for our water security? End north sea oil & gas - invest in renewables for our energy security? A maximum workplace temperature for worker security? No. A request not to sell BBQs. This is dire from Andy Burnham. Spectacularly mishandling the crisis.

Burnham had faced calls from the green party to chair a cobra meeting on the heatwaves with leader Zack Polanski accusing the pm of inaction amid threats to public health and food supplies

Our Prime Minister has had a lot to say today about subscriptions. Meanwhile, huge parts of the country are in drought. We're about to enter our fifth heatwave of the year, killing more people. Are we going to get anything from the Government? Literally anything?

People of Clacton! Show your support for me by putting a bin outside your house, one day this week, of a colour of Tendring Council's choice. This will be unequivocal proof of the success of my campaign.

I believe Clacton deserves an MP who will spend their time shining a light on everything the area has to offer. And why wait till I'm elected? I've been to visit one of the constituency's most stunning landmarks.

Today is 5 August 2026, a day of shame for the UK and the UK Labour Party in particular. This is the day the UK government brings into force the UK Equality and Human Rights Commission’s new guidance on the provision of services. translucent.org.uk/the-labour-p...

The Labour Party's Day of Shame

The Labour Party's Day of Shame – 5.8.26 highlights the failing of the EHRC and The Labour Party after the Supreme Court judgment FWS v SGM.

translucent.org.uk

The unworkable EHRC Code comes into effect today - A reminder to all my lovely trans+ fam… It’s designed for organisations, not you! It does NOT make it a criminal offence for you to carry on using whichever loo best suits you/ your needs. If someone complains, that’s the orgs problem, not yours!

CARRY ON
AND
KEEP
PEEING

This is something I now hear regularly from almost all my trans friends. The tension between wanting to stay but not feeling safe. The tension between fleeing or fighting. The “what if where I go becomes just as bad?” It’s utterly shameful that law-abiding people feel they’re being forced out.

Drinking espresso martinis, discussing with my fiancé at what point we need to flee the UK. I don't want to leave my home. My family. My friends. With every passing month, it feels more and more inevitable. We are losing so hard and I can't see how it stops.
