🌙 From the Desert Southwest to the Southeast, over a dozen states started today with warmth that would be nearly impossible w/out the influence of heat-trapping pollution. Hot nights limit our ability to recover from brutal days—and that's when heat stress and illness rise.

It was a warm start to this Thursday across much of the Lone Star State. In fact, many Texans walked out to the WARMEST start to a July 23rd of record. For example: Austin. ABIA: 81. Camp Mabry: 82. Both top the record of 80 set in 2019 & tied in 2023 /1

Nobody at the beach is watching for the actual threat. A swimmer in Falmouth was hospitalized last August. Not a shark. A flesh-eating bacteria that only needs warm salt water, in an ocean that used to be too cold for it. Ten cases a year on this coast in the late eighties. Eighty by 2018.

I never really paid much attention to all these talking heads, but Colonel Larry Wilkerson really flips me out because he's so right about everything he talks about military& strategically that the United States is doing: he was against the Iraq war which was the correct side of history to be on.
