In memoriam: Dr. Nouman Ali, a member of Halifax's cycling community, was killed last week when a driver opened their door into his path on Strawberry Hill Street. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone who is mourning his loss. 🕯️

The Halifax Cycling Coalition is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Nouman Ali, a member of Halifax's cycling community who was killed last week on Strawberry Hill Street when a driver opened their door into his path. Dr. Ali was a respected professor at Dalhousie University and, by all accounts, a generous and devoted member of his community. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, students, and everyone who is mourning his loss. Every person who rides a bike in this city deserves to get home safely. We extend our deepest condolences to all who knew and loved him.

2,200 nursing home workers at 22 sites in NS are on strike. Some of the longest strikes in Canadian history have been in LTC -- and that means that low-paid workers have struggled mightily for fair wages and better living conditions and care for residents. I stand with CUPE-NS.

Orla Mining: Investigate & Clarify If it is confirmed that the Canadian mining company hired criminals to persecute its workers, the sanction cannot be limited to an administrative procedure, as this would allow companies to normalize fines as just another operating cost.
