I was looking for an old quote and found this year old artcile where a Kotaku writer feels so stupidly about Nintendo not having achievements. "ARE THEY TOO GOOD FOR ACHIEVEMENTS??" Yes Zack, they are. For all I can criticize about nintendo, they actually design their games.
I really enjoy making tools to remove things that slow down the creative process. Resizing objects is one of those things So I built a Dynamic Scaling System for Blender that lets the object adapt to a new scale automatically Inspired by @paralives.com and developed using @kenney.nl 's assets
Mini Dungeon has been expanded and improved! Now contains 5 additional models and more details added to others. kenney.nl/assets/mini-... (completely free, CC0)
I was asked about a small breakdown for the 3D anime ramen and realized my breakdown thread was on the cursed site from which I deleted my account 😅 So I'm gonna post a small 🧵 here
Starting to feel like the perpetuation of Marxism as the dominant anti-capitalist ideology is a stone-cold ruling class psyop since it has been spectacularly ineffective for over a century now and crowds out alternative ideas that addresses current issues and not a bunch of outdated shit
More batch lerp() / line() tests for #picotron 0.3.1 The batch lerp can take a table of parameters that are each themselves an index into a quad definition. There's something like 3 layers of indirection going on there, but it enables a very tiny per-quad inner loop. (1000 polys / 60fps / 55% cpu)
want to see my favorite deterministic number generator? it's a linear congruential generator. there are value sets for which distribution is quite good, and it's very lightweight if you're doing procedural generation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_...

advice for programmers: for most procedural generation you don't actually need "good" number generators! use whatever you like. it doesn't have to be cryptographically secure, it's the x, y position of a cactus.
Dungeon Magic (1993) | beat 'em up | arcade | Taito At 88, Vold proves age is just a number as one of the playable characters in Taito's RPG-like, isometric adventure. Known as Light Bringer in Europe and Japan, it had traps, co-op, and screaming bosses bent on keeping you from saving the world!
Funny realization as I was poring over UI elements and going "wow, this text is so goddamn pokey, why are all games like this" aaaaaaand then it came to me! The same layouts are meant to comfortably hold text strings in English, German, Turkish, Japanese and Russian. Designed for the worst case!

I feel like game devs are a unique combination of all of “doing some of the hardest software engineering”, “wild west cowboy bullshit”, and “hitting themselves in the head with hammers for no reason”
Another week, another round of spamming social media trying to drum up wishlists... ;) ;) ;)

Politics is a microcosm of social media in every European country I have a connection to: The right exploits anxiety about immigration and economic conditions to justify privatizing public services and concentrate wealth, while the left calls the right names and appeals to discredited shibboleths.
One of my biggest heartbreaks is my existence started going to crap right at the point I would have had a video game with an all timer soundtrack if life had been kinder. I‘m glad Thalamus have helped it see the light of day, it is so bloody good.

Favorite thing about angry online lefties policing Literally Everything: The only damage you're doing is to your own spaces. Everyone else has learned, by now, that you're all a bunch of poor losers with zero power or influence that can be ignored.
Kind of nuts to watch Europeans very rapidly go from "the evil empire can't be that evil since it mostly does evil things to other people and not to us" to "the evil empire is clearly evil since it is finally doing evil things to us and not just to other people", must be a lesson here somewhere.
Can't for the first member of the Supreme Court to be put in medically induced coma on life support to allow a political machine to retain and operate the seat indefinitely since the appointee is not strictly speaking dead and the appointment is for life.
Protip: Don't be a cop. Also consider the many ways in which you may actually be a fucking cop without you knowing it because you have the best of intentions just like real cops
The whole game preservation movement strikes me as working in the EXACT wrong end of the problem. You can put as many floppies and discs and piles of old hardware as you want in as climate-regulated a warehouse as you want, it's going to decay. In 100 years, all of that shit is gonna be useless.
I sometimes see Europeans who fancy themselves founders complain that it's not like the US over here. I wonder if they actually understand the externalities of US finance or if they believe number go up means it's all good in the hood. Because they can't literally want neofeudalism over here, right?
You don't seem to understand that Microsoft is happy to spend 100 billion dollars wrecking the US games industry because that means they will have inordinate power when it comes to rebuilding it. Like Uber wrecked taxis, Microsoft is wrecking videogames. They will reshape the market in their image.
