Bill Oddie, what a lovely bloke. He wrote us a letter when we started making The Young Ones, wishing us the very best, and warning us against interference from higher up. He didn’t know anyone in the cast personally. It just came out of the blue. Lovely thing to do.

Moonwatching. Suspect the discoloration may be due to the ash from Dovestones fire blowing west. Tonight though, the drama of the terminator line, especially in black and white, highlighting crater walls, if not their floors...

The moon at about first quarter: a crescent in light brown/orange.  Some details picked out of crater walls as the sunlight touches them.A hazy, almost half moon.  Still slightly brown with details of the plains ('Seas') obvious.A three-quarter moon in an orangey-brown.  A crater (named Copernicus) is obvious on the equator just beyond the dark of the terminator line, which marks the line of the lunar sunrise.A black and white picture of a three-quarter moon, focussing on the terminator line.  At the top, a crescent of rim walls of the crater Plato are visible even though the rest of the crater is in darkness.

We interrupt our usual please buy the book posts with a please request at your local library post. This book is designed to help people so it would be great to get it out there for freebs! There's a queue at my local library already.

My wish for today is that you write something with your human brain. I don't care if it's a grocery list, an email, a letter to your cat or a poem about cookies. Writing is so uniquely human and magical and it should be celebrated.
